I dropped into Steam Junkies last week for a coffee meeting and sampled the baked eggs with goats cheese and some gluten free banana bread - both were phenomenal. phenomenal. What I like about this place is that you can sit down for a few hours, get work done peacefully (WI-FI provided) and get hyped up on great coffee. Friendly staff, great place smack bang in the middle of the lentil belt.

Awesome cafe which opened up not too long ago.
It's on the ground floor of The Commons residential development on Florence Street, and incidentally right next to the Upfield bike path, so close they could serve passing cyclists coffee out of the huge windows, and locals heading to Anstey Station.
Steam Junkies marries industrial-style concrete and piping with some quirky details and sparks of colour. I like it, it feels edgy but not too stark or grunge.
The food is cool too.
Following the organic theme of the residential project, they offer freshly juiced drinks which are vibrant in both flavour, colour and texture. I recently had a Carrot, apple and ginger juice.
The standout dish on our table was the umami burger - great flavours, generous serving, looked stunning and was served with roast potatoes instead of fries (more cafes should offer this variation).
