Most drivers are wonderful and ALL wait for you to be seated before they move away from the bus stop. You do need to wave down the bus you need, but if you wave down the wrong one, the driver is more than happy to let you know which numbered bus that you do need. If you have internet access, use the translink site to help plan your journey, it is a wonderful tool and gives you many options ranging from the quickest, the least walking, the least transfers etc. BUY yourself a GOCARD!!! You can get one of these from most newsagents or 7-Eleven stores in Queensland and save you lots of money (and digging for spare change!!) on your trip. The card can be topped up on the bus and 7-Eleven stores. Fares are cheaper in off peak times, but you can save up to 20% off the normal fare by using the Go card so for the initial outlay of $5 it is definitely worth it. You can register it in case it gets lost or stolen & the amount left on it is restored to a new card :) After your 9th journey each week, any extra journeys are free too, so there are great perks to having a go card. The card can also be used for trains & if you live in Brisbane, Ferries as well as buses. Whey you go on the translink site, it will aslo calculate the cost of your journey - very helpful! If you catch the bus regularly, you will find the driver treats you like a long lost friend every time you jump on - now that is terrific service.

Approximate cost: $5 initially

I'm so sad to hear that you haven't had great experienciences like I have. You can go to the translink site and post your concerns - take note of the bus line and the time of day that you caught the bus and they WILL follow it up. Make sure that you tick the box that allows you to hear back from them about what actions are taken. It takes between 3 and 10 days. I have posted both good and bad comments :) I must admit that train rides are much better, expecially with large pieces of luggage. Conductors will help load and unload luggage and help you get off at the right stop if you ask them. NB Go cards only work in QLD :(
