Having lived in Marrickville a few years ago, we'd often frequent this tiny little bakery for their great coffee and delicous and creamy portugese tarts! Behind the glass counter at Sweet Belem they have an array of assorted goodies to entice the eye but I'm only here for the tarts at $3.50. They are alot pricier but they are delicious, creamy and you hear that real " crunch" of the flaky pastry upon biting into them! Heaven and well worth the price tag!

Approximate cost: $3.50

Best Portuguese tarts in Sydney, but as they are only small you can't stop at one and that makes them a bit pricey. Always friendly service with good coffee, do yourselves a favour and give them a try.

I had heard raving reviews about this place from friends and family, so I decided to pay them a visit and try out some of their delights. Agreeingly, the Portuguese Tarts were phenomenal, though not big enough for the price you pay- Im a bit of a guts when it comes to desserts so I like to go 'all out' or not at all ;)

The greatest selection of fine and gourmet cakes - especially the cinnamon custard tarts which are TO DIE FOR!! Staff are friendly and prices are reasonable. The cafe has such a homely European feel too - once you're in, its hard to leave!

I agree that their custard tarts are amazing. They are not cheap though and the service could definitely do with a shake up. I usually just get them take away.

We went in here on a rather quiet morning hoping to buy some cakes and were sorely disappointed. There were only two tables occupied and a couple of people waiting to be served, it was by no means busy and there were 3 people working behind the counter. We stood waiting and were ignored, and after watching someone who came in after us greet the servers obviously as an acquaintance and be served instantly we left in favour of one of the far better cafes (Honeymoon Patisserie) on this street.

I go here just for the Portuguese custard tarts which I reckon are the best in Sydney! The pastry is what makes their tarts stand out from the others, perfectly crispy and just the right amount of sweetness.
