Travelled interstate to get our child tested for a whole day and diagnosed. While we were grateful for the thorough testing to get the diagnosis, we were not impressed with the overall service we got from the clinic for the following reasons:
(1) We arrived there early in the morning as told, and there were no receptionists to meet us. The doctor was late.
(2) Prior to the meeting, the clinic assumes that just the stuff on their internet is enough to prepare parents and children for the tests. No, it isn’t. It would have been nice on arrival someone would have taken the time to explain all the testing they will subject our child to, what order they would be given and even an explanation of the procedure. But nope, nothing. The psychologist (?) who did the testing scared our son when they brought out some giant syringe in front of our child who is really scared of injections. It would’ve been nice to have been told the procedure first so we could have been there with our child to prepare him and calm him down.
(3) The scan is kind of useless when all you get is printed diagrams without any written explanation on what they meant. Whatever verbal explanation we got was hurried, and the doctor expected we’ll remember everything we were told in that brief time.
(4) The doctor hardly interacted with our child and seemed in a rush in seeing us and ending our session.
(5) The written report we received took a month or more to arrive. 50% of the content was basically our child’s history which WE provided. NO explanation of the diagrams. The results of the tests were not that easy to understand — we had to ask our child’s psychologist in our state to fully understand it. The printed advice on how to parent a child with ADHD and suggestions for teachers were useful (except you could probably find them on the internet).
(6) While we were there, one of the receptionist seemed to be in a rotten mood and was being rude to whomever she was talking to on the phone.

It took us more than a year to get a booking with this clinic. We persevered because of the high recommendation we received. But in hindsight, not sure if it was worth the wait. On the plus side, we a have a solid diagnosis, but we decided to go with another doctor within our residential state to continue the treatment of our child.

Sydney Developmental Clinic were very thorough and professional in their testing, and I would highly recommend them in regard to getting a diagnosis. They have a very seamless process which you are able to observe by watching the waiting room comings and goings. On the less positive side, the windowless waiting room is full of worried/frazzled looking parents and strangely subdued children. We didn't like the unisex toilets, and the packed to overflowing waiting room is very impersonal and makes you feel like a number. For this reason I have chosen not to use Sydney Developmental Clinic for the ongoing monitoring and treatment of my daughters ADHD.

My experience with this place has been pretty abominable and the doctors missed a lot of the issues. Where are you going now as we need to find somewhere else and this time would like a decent recommendation! Thanks

Travelled a long way for an assessment at this clinic and am I glad we did? YES.
Local blokes were just moving down the ADHA path but the Sydeny doctor explained how fraught that is without the proper testing. Also explained the ins and outs of the situation with my child for which I will be forever grateful.

The city location is a bit inconvenient but I was told that it was well worth it by my psychologist when considering medication for ADHD. I tried a local paediatrician but they had no idea what they were doing. These doctors were professional and knew their stuff- they go my son right and I am very grateful. Could have done without all the brain scans as I don't think it really added anything and they did use interns for testing which was less professional than the other psychologist who diagnosed my son's ADHD.

We had a little trouble finding the clinic originally. The waiting area is small with no windows and cramped seating. With children off their ADHD medication this can make waiting to see the specialist and technicians a trial in patience and nerve racking. The clinical specialist is wonderful as are the technicians performing the tests on the children.

Approximate cost: $300.00

This is a fantastic support center to get your child assessed for developmental and behavioral things that may be a concern.Very professional,a team of 2 Pediatric Doctors and psychologists and technicians that run tests and support your child through their life and schooling.
