Aztec is one of the top 5 best Mexican restaurants in Gold Coast. The other negative reviews are unfair. I have been to Mexico and the food here is authentic.

We couldn't resist Two Up Tuesday (buy one main meal and receive another free) at The Aztec. Yes, the mains are quite dear but with the second being free, we went straight for the most expensive dishes available, two choices we would not have otherwise considered, not just due to the cost but also because they were not the usual enchilada/taquito/burrito/taco fare we usually choose to eat when having Mexican food. We were pleased we did!

Our family of four shared everything and enjoyed the lot. The meals were large, filling and tasty. With the 2 for 1 special, the price was fair. I would not bother eating at The Aztec without taking advantage of one of their many specials, though.

Too bad Montezuma's (their sister restaurant in Surfers Paradise) didn't open their doors for lunch when we visited a few days later - their promotional material, tourist ads and even their website advertise a daily lunch special but after waiting almost an hour for them to open their doors, we discovered they don't actually open for lunch every day. Let's hope feedback on this issue leads to better publication of their business hours.

very disapointed at my experience at the aztec broadbeach.
love mexican food, after spending a few years living in mexico, but the food here was not what i expected.
our jug of sangria was the worst i have tasted, bitter and very unapealing, with not a hint of fruit.
at $20 A CARAFFE, DEFINITELY POOR VALUE.
THE FOOD WAS SO SO, I'VE TASTED BOTH BETTER AND WORSE, WITH MY CHILLI VERDE VERY BLAND AND LACKING SPICE.
OUR COMBINATION DIP BETWEEN US WAS BOTH TASTY AND CAME IN 3 LARGE DISHES, WITH A CHOICE OF 6 DIPS TO CHOOSE FROM.
SERVICE GREAT, COULDN'T BE FAULTED AND THE LOCATION IN THE PLAZA WAS VERY CONTINENTAL AND WITH A BUSKER OUTSIDE, VERY PLEASENT.
A LITTLE EXPENSIVE, ON THE WHOLE A LITTLE DISSAPOINTING AND I WOULDN'T GO BACK

While on holidays we had lunch at this restaurant - The food was very generous and tasted great - the staff were very friendly and the decor was terrific..Best thing was if you eat at lunch time you get the meal for half price

I came to The Aztec with my boyfriend and two of our friends, as the three of them had cravings for Mexican, and the place they had been to previously closed.

The service we received was faultless. We were seated very quickly, and there was a steady stream of waiters checking in on us while we decided on what to eat. Everyone was friendly, polite and professional!

The food, while not the best Mexican we've had, was tasty enough that we were satisfied. The smallish portion sizes are a little bit disappointing, considering what we paid (an average of $20 for mains) for them, but they were surprisingly filling. My boyfriend and one of out friends ordered burritos, which they enjoyed. The nachos looked disappointing - two circular layers of corn chips topped with a lot of sauce isn't exactly what one expects when ordering nachos. The quesadilla I ordered was slightly overcooked, and in between the amount of melted cheese and the chorizo, was really oily.

While I wouldn't necessarily go back during dinner as a first choice for Mexican, I would certainly return during lunch (when they have 1/2 price on mains), or on a Tuesday night where they have a buy one main, get one main free deal.

I love The Aztec, the food is wonderful and always consistant. Especially love cheap Tuesday. Always have to book early as they get so busy.

Very good meals. Huge in size. Did however take a long time to come out being the only ones in the restaurant (went there just as lunch was starting) Very reasonable priced as well. Overall quite satisfied

aztec sells fantastic mexican food. i have been going there since it opened. it is my kids favourite restaurant. the sangria is delicious. the chilli con queso dip is to die for and its hard to pick a favourite from the range of mains. it is quite good value for the huge meal you get. hard to fit it all in. michelle and her team do a great job.

We had diner at the Aztec Mexican recently and if you are looking for authentic Mexican this is the place to go. They have great half price lunch deals, which makes the food more affordable if you have a family. Also Tuesday night is two for one night, but best to book for this as it can get quite busy. Try the Aztec deight.

Approximate cost: $20.00

I don't even like Mexican food and I still go back to this place. I always seem to go with a rowdy bunch of friends and they are still friendly and accommodating despite how annoying I can imagine our volume would be to them. Quite a decent sized meal too for the price and a really amazing atmosphere. They won't say no to suiting your needs.

Approximate cost: $17
