Had a delicious meal with work colleagues on my last day in Mount Gambier. The Barn Steakhouse has a reputation for exceptional steak, none of us were disappointed. We started with oysters kilpatrick and then the steak, which can be ordered in sizes of 300g up to 1kg which is the Porthouse New York. I ordered the 600g porthouse, medium with creamy garlic prawns. Wow and I do mean wow, my meat was perfectly cooked, so dtender and the creamy garlic prawns just complimented it. I honestly believe I have never been presented with steak like this. Perfect! Exceptional! Sensational! I cannot say enough, if you are visitng Mount Gambier - you must go here.

Considering the size and quality of our meals, I found the prices extremely reasonable. $44 for my 600g steak and it was $55 for the 1kg New York steak. Of course there are many other options on the menu if you are not a big fan of steak.

I cannot forget to mention the staff, very attentive and friendly. Will definitely be returning next time.

This place is famous for its steak and yeah I did ordered steak the last time I went there. I ordered the sirloin steak as medium, but it turned out to be medium well. Nevertheless the meat still taste nice and the side dishes is nice as well. My friend ordered the chicken and the creamy sauce is rich and it goes so well with the chicken. In terms of wine selection, they do offer a wide range of SA wine to go along with them. but price wise is abit expensive but its okay to dine in this restaurant while you are visiting mount gambier :)

First class fine dining restaurant. If you like your steak you must eat here. If you like your wines you must eat here; the wine list is 28 pages long and you can go into the wine storage and select your wine if you want. Be prepared for an expensive meal though....
The Barn offers accommodation as well (didn't try it) but, if you are a gourmand and are prepared to pay for it, fly to Mount Gambier, stay at the Barn and dine at the Barn Steakhouse.
