Still as beautiful, exquisite, warm and delicious as it was when it first opened. The degustation is definitely one of the better bargains around town. Priced at $100 (or less), it offers the same quality (better in my opinion) as the top CBD degustation restaurants, in a format that does not force you to keep eating despite being full 3/4 of the way in.
I love the innovation in the menu, combined with reasonable price and serving sizes.
Examples:
Shot glass filled with Onion cream/mousse with crackling
Hand rolled pasta sheets, with slippery jack mushroom & pinenut with a nutty/meaty sauce
Fig & beetroot dessert featuring freeze dried beetroot and the meringue, with fresh fig

I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the food here! Every course was simply stunning. What I loved was the dichotomy of the food. Each course was based around one or two simple, but beautiful ingredients, that seemed simply prepared, yet complemented by another set of simple ingredients, prepared in a more inventive way, that really left you guessing as to what it was that you were tasting. I LOVED that. There was so much beautiful food, that I could easily write a "War & Peace' length review, but seriously folks, you have to eat here at least once. In summary, $400 may sound like an awful lot of money for 2 people to dine out, (including matching wines for one of us), but when the food is THAT fantastic, as it was at Estelle, I think it was well worth it; it's the terrible $20 meals you begrudge, & we've had plenty of those, haven't we? The wait staff were all pretty nice, but they seemed to rush through the explanation of each course, & the sommelier isn't really a sommelier, he was nice enough, but not very confident & sounded like he was reciting the blurb on the back of each bottle. If they could improve those tiny little things with the service, this could very well be the best place to eat in Melbourne.

Approximate cost: $Priceless

I chose this restaurant to celebrate my birthday as i had read amazingly positive, raving reviews from the age good food guide, food bloggers.

We were slightly concerned as my mother who accompanied me as well as a few friends, brother were coming and my mother has a long list of foods she does not and can not eat nevertheless we told them and they just said they were ok to give them the list on the night.
They didn't realise it was such a long list but nevertheless were happy to accomodate her.
We all had to have the same amount of courses and being that it was my birthday I had already decided we were all going to have the 9 courses I also chose the adventurous 5 course wine to accompany5 of the 9 courses So we all started with 3 amuse bouches each served on a black piece of what looked like a slate tile that consisted of melon, crispy chicken skin, jerusalem artichoke, with goats cheese all being delicious.

The first course - we were served were the heirloom tomatoes & fior di latte sweet tomatoes, creamy cheese we all enjoyed this course nothing unique or inventive though

2nd course - Ora king salmon,green apple & coffee
I think this dish was nice but not outstanding

3rd course - Scallop, black miso seaweed was nice, the scallop was fat, delicious without roe just the way i like it the whole dish was pretty tasty

4th course - Coorong mullet,ox heart tomato & calamari Everyone really enjoyed this dish a friend proclaiming it was his favourite dish of the night

5th course - Milawa chicken,foie gras & smoked potato
this was my favourite dish of the evening the chicken was absolutely melt in the mouth tender a unique, delicious tasting dish

6th course - Sher wagyu,burnt carrot & horseradish
A Highly, enjoyable tasty dish I'm not so sure how unique though

7th course - olive oil sponge,pumpkin & salted caramel
This was not bad but we all thought they could have done better

8th course - Summer berries,lemon verbena & mascarpone

9th course - Bannana,chocolate mousse & milk biscuit

Over all the experoience we had at estelle was pretty good bt to be honest with you I was expecting something a bit more unique, inventive The desserts were nothing to rave about
Would I return? It's a possibility but I have to get through most of my wish list before hand.

I have been to this place a few times. Whilst the coffee and good are exceptional the service can be to put it bluntly completely crap. I am not sure what the Barista's problem is (not the lovely young girl who works on Sundays, their full timerj) but her attitude is disgusting. Its like she constantly gets out of the wrong side of bed and at times the owner can also be completely stuck up. After my last experience when we had to suddenly leave due to unexpected circumstances they pretty much threw a fit because we only had coffees and didn't order food. Won't be going their again

Approximate cost: $25
