Ok ,we have been coming to this british fish and chip place since it opened a few years ago and was always satisfied with service and food. We have seen it through name change and ownership changes. Havnt been here for about a year or so and so felt like it last night so ventured on over today for lunch.
New orange chairs outside is about the only decor change. Menu is just abiut the same, but the lack of service and the fallen grace of food ,we wont be going back.
No greeting of hello to people, the shop was empty when we arrived,we chose the usual cod and chips and potato croquettes and 2 cans of drink. Drinks are a bit over priced at $2:80 for a can we thought compared to other takeaways.
No variety like wheh it was fish and chips just coke and fanta etc from that company, disappointing.
My order was stuffed up and money taken out of my acount when I didnt even present my card or the woman present the machine to me ,didnt think i was that close,so we sorted out the order again as it was wrong. The $33:00 was taken out and $17 from a minute ago. I wanted a reciept to keep track of this incase a double dipping occurred but that was too difficult as well so another ten minutes and another customer came in and ordered.
I eventuall said never mind and went to sit outside with my partner and went online to check my account and yes an extra $17 was taken out so I went back in and asked if she could check and she had already and said yes it was taken out but in no hurry to come and tell me to get a refund.
Refunding on my card was also far too hard so I got cash instead.
Onto the food!
Pretty quick ,5 min food was ready.
shop is still clean but no customers.

Sad to say the food is crappy. The usual crispy chips that hold the vinegar flavour is non existant because they are overly oily and soggy.
The fish had no taste other than oil!
The batter was soft ,soggy and stuck to the paper as were the chips.
Fish tasted stale, had no flavour, was a bit harder than fish should be. Cod n chips was 11:60 i think
Oil was just lying in the paper drowning the croquettes which we were always happy with being crunchy and fluffy were drenched in oil and really soggy that they didnt hold there shape. Least they tasted like potato.
Drinks werent overly cold.
Tables were clean
The lady that ordered when I was sorting out my order came back also, the fish was forgotten I think she said in her pack. How do you forget fish? You only had 2 orders.
No one came whilst we were there, did our shopping and shop was still empty half hr later.
Vinegar wasnt the right one as before and just soaked into the paper.
Fallen to beyond belief in our eyes.
Sad as it was a really nice shop we frequented but wont be anymore. Good luck if you decide to try
The place is actually brightwater but it wouldnt show up in the details

Approximate cost: $33

Yay the place is under new management again and the good fish n chips is back.
Friday night dinner at the fryer.
Menu is slightly different with some things gone but the main ones are still there.
Same decor ,fun staff, and a pommy fryer.
The fish we had was atlantic cod and chips and huge brilliant serve of crispy onion rings and we had the cheese n potato croquettes yum.
The fish was large thick pieces with that thin crispy golden batter and the chips were back to hand cut that the vinegar stuck to. Place is spotless and the girls are a laugh. If you read this fryer staff the girls will know what Im talking about . Back view lol will return again and again for the best fish n chips on the coast.
Even got a can of pommy orange soda again.
Just one thing can you put the fish n chips, back in one pack instead of separate?
Thanks guys

This store claims to serve authentic brittish fish and chips. We decided to try it out after hearing rave reviews. Unfortunately, I found the fish and chips here to be really bland and tasteless. I also thought the menu items were a little overpriced. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll return.

Great place in the shopping centre at Brighwater. Black and white and red decor. Seats inside and out. Extensive British fish and chips menu. British soft drinks,i love the tango orange, tastes a bit burnt and has a bit of a tang. Cod and chips is $10 big serve of old fashioned chips, great with vinegar. Fish is lightly battered and hot and freshly cooked. Condiments of mushy peas, gravy and other things on the menu like black pudding and you can have kids meals, chip buttys, potato scallops arnt too bad either. Does get packed on weekends at certain times. Will keep on going back. Love it

Approximate cost: $10

Last sundays wasnt a good frying day. Apparently trying new products where the food is burnt and soggy with oil, only time we have been disappointed. Im still saying its the oil thats old thats burning the batter and holding oil,in the food and not cooking the chips, they were soggy and white, threw alot of our lunch in the bin. Have mentioned itmon fb page and they will replace my meal and are sorting out the cooking. If so ething is already perfect dont go changing it.
