I had problems with hot flushes due to the change of life and did not want to use prescription drugs. I had seen the Hierophant whilst shopping in the Health shops close by and decided to check the place out. I had read that using Black Cohosh and Dong Quai as a tea could help. I purchased a bit of each and when I explained to the assistant what I was using this for, she advised me to make a weak tea first and build from there, if after a few days of having this I felt at all different to stop immediately and then should come back and see one of there naturopaths. I did as she said and had no ill effects, I had one cup of tea each night for 8 weeks, and my hot flushes of a night have now gone. I continue to use this tea once a month. I did not make an appointment with the naturopath because of finding this worked for me. I liked the fact that although I knew what I was wanting from reading about this in a magazine, they made sure that I only purchased a small amount and not make it too strong until I knew if there were any side effects. They could not stress enough that people react to different substances and even natural products can be dangerous if not used correctly. The people running the business were not interested in selling me anything unless I was prepared to know the full facts first. I am so used to having people say, "yes this is good for that", just to sell a product. Here they are open to listening to you and will not prescribe anything that they feel is not right without knowing more of your medical condition. I was not on any medical prescriptions that would interfere with me trying the Black Cohosh and Dong Quai and took their advice knowing it was then my choice. They made you feel very comfortable, not awkward about your problem and the atmosphere was more a family feeling.
