Puchased Shoes on the 4th May 2008 as per the attached Receipt.

Approx 9th June 2008 I put the Shoes into Key King Belconnen store to have sole added. I usually do this to all of my shoes to ensure they last.

On collecting the shoes around the 18th June 2008 I identified that the shoes had been damaged (pictures can be provided). So I spoke to the man at the counter of Key King Belconnen and he advised that he would have to get the Manager to phone me.

David Newham phoned me and we discussed the damage to the shoes. He advised that a junior person had decided to try and do the sole's on my shoes without realising how difficult they may be and in the process damaged them. I expressed to David that the shoes were only new and had been worn a few times. He said that the damage caused could not be seen as it was underneath the shoe and that they should last and he would supply a letter guaranteeing that.

I have since had the shoes back an additional two times over the last couple of months as the sole's kept coming off.

On dropping the shoes off the last time approx 8th September 2008 the staff member at Key King Belconnen advised me that he would send the shoes over to David. I phoned a week later to see what was happening and they asked if I still had the letter that David had given me, I indicated that I had it at home. They asked if I could bring the letter in on Saturday (13th September 2008) which I did, they then faxed the letter to David and indicated that he had lost his copy. This is the last I have heard, I have phoned every couple of days only to be advised that they will pass on my message to the owner. Key King Belconnen still have my shoes.

I have had no contact from David since his initial phone call and letter, he refuses to acknowledge or return my calls for over 3 weeks.

I since contacted the Department of Fair Trading, unfortunately David lied and indicated that I took the shoes back after the 90 days. And as we all know the Department of Fair Trading is a toothless tiger so was unable to do anything.

Beware before placing your shoes at any Key King in Canberra as David owns them all and if something goes wrong it will be bad luck.

Approximate cost: $200

I have taken shoes to be repaired to this shop a number of times and have been impressed with them. The sales staff are knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful. I think the prices are very reasonable and they don't take too long to fix your shoes.
