Things haven't changed. The atmosphere and food is still beautiful. A lovely old school library setting that is very cosy, and the menu reads delightfully. But it is $$$. You would have thought you were sitting in a michelin 2 star restaurant given the prices & serving sizes (minus the napery & attentive service).

I agree with many of the reviews here, great service, beautiful ambience but serving sizes not terribly generous and somewhat expensive. We ordered a selection of plates to share amongst our group of 15 but found there were not enough of some things to go around. It probably wasn't the best way to order. It would therefore be unfair to comment on serving sizes as I have not dined here other than in a large group. The service was impeccable and our waiter was very attentive all night. I would highly recommend this place to bibliophiles. Wine and food came to roughly $45.00 per head.

Sounds like they've been watching a certain cooking show where the servings are beautifully presented but only offer half a dozen mouthfuls. One scallop ring a bell?

The service is good; staff are friendly and attentive without being intrusive.
The restaurant is situated behind the Wheeler Centre @ the State Library, and the venue is very tastefully furnished. It feels like a elite club/library.
Menu wise, all the food offerings read very well, and are equally well executed. However, the servings are on the small side.
Ie. I had the beetroot salad ($20). Given the price, I expected it to be an adequately sized salad for lunch. It came out beautifully presented, however it consisted of only 4 baby beetroots, amongst a small serve of salad greens and light sprinkling of nut praline.
My dining companion fared better. But be warned that the serving sizes are on the small side.
We also had a problem with the bill, with one dish being more expensive on the bill, than stated on the menu. This was rectified.

The customer service is great they remember who you are but depending on who you go to they charge you all different prices but the quality of food is really appauling something as simple as a potato cake is always un-cooked and very high priced for something healthy

Approximate cost: $10 per sanwich

I have also encountered errors in my bill. They are very nice about rectifying it, but it does make you wonder.
