Good quality coffee in the Main Street of ocean grove. Lacks the atmosphere of some of the more established businesses however is always busy so seems to be satisfying the local appetite for something new.

Approximate cost: $10

Just spotted this business the other day when I visited Ocean Grove, will stop in for a look next time.

This is one of several cafes within walking distance so there is plenty of competition for the coffee dollar. My friend and I ordered, and waited approx 7 minutes for our lukewarm coffee to be brought to us at a table while people ordering take-away coffees came and went. Not impressed. We were debating whether or not we'd order an early lunch, but after the wait for the coffee decided not to.

Sounds pretty disappointing.

The food here is of a very high standard. The chef is obviously a perfectionist because when it was discovered that the bacon I had ordered as an addition to my scrambled eggs was not on the plate the entire dish was redone. I would have happily just accepted some separately cooked bacon. The presentation of the food is very appealing. The all day breakfast, adds a great variety to their lunch time menu and their special Gourmet menu. My husband chose the rabbit pie from the gourmet menu. This was more like a dumpling in appearance. The rabbit was encased in a light fluffy dough, served with a tasty chutney and a very appealing salad that was topped with slices of pear and a drizzle of dressing. They also serve a duck pie which is of similar appearance. The coffee and Earl Grey tea were exceptional nice.
Most of the seating is comfortable booths, plus some high stools at a bench in the window, and there is seating outside. The Olive Pit also stocks a large variety of delicatessen items including a jar of truffle pate. For an interesting experience choose a seat where you can study the produce on the shelves. This adds an extra dimension of pleasure to eating the fine food that is served here.

I bought some stuff from their deli for Christmas and it was all delicious. The little black olives were far nicer than the supermarket variety and the marinated fetta (i bought the one with preserved lemon) is absolutely brilliant. Irresistable. They also have great chocolates, biscuits and other produce. Haven't tried the cafe yet.

Approximate cost: $Pricey but worth it
