5 reviews about TIPPS Coaching College

My son was struggling to balance the workload from both school and tutoring. We decided to drop English tutoring to lessen his workload and stress (I.e Maths tutoring only).

To my surprise, and without any valid reason. They've decided to DROP my son completely. Even though he has attended here for a few years.

What kind of tutoring centre claims they "cannot tutor him" and recommends him to find a private tutor. They even offered to refund me the rest of his tuition fees. The audacity to even recommend that maybe he return when he's in a "better state of mind".

This is disgraceful behaviour from a business which is meant to support their students.

REVIEW FOR STUDYING MATH HERE NOT ENGLISH
The reason why I gave 5 stars is because for me personally, I wanted a tutor that could help me understand topics better, not to learn tips and tricks on how to finish the HSC exam early. Although yes that is preferable for majority, I needed someone that would make sure I would never forget how to do a question, especially the ones that require you to think outside the box.

Kovskii's (the head) teaching style is indeed vigorous and overwhelming but it's actually very effective. He teaches over a topic for weeks and even if it's the same thing for 4 weeks (persay), it consists of his simplified definition of the topics with notes and questions to practice that he's pulled out from hsc past papers, popular textbooks i.e terry lee and school past papers from the top ranking to avg ranking schools. I appreciate the time and effort he's made to extract questions from all these sources and hence, find this place beneficial.

In terms of other contents:
- Cost is very affordable
- Lesson times are long but they need to be in order to be ahead of everyone else
- Environment is comfortable (doesn't look dodgy I swear)
- They have one major exam that is to determine if you should move up or down a class
- Easy access because there's a car park right next to them and the train and bus that's literally a 2min walk

I joined the place in 2018 as a student so this is my honest review collated by my attendance for the past couple of months.

DO NOT go IF you actually want a high ATAR. It's good for the people who want to save money and are happy with an 80 ATAR. The only reason you should attend is if you get the head tutor. Otherwise, find another tutoring place. One time I heard the teacher say "...if you get a 70, which is still pretty good..." which is NOWHERE NEAR GOOD. If the class average is low in a test, they will make the next test easier to "cater" to the class. This does not help the class in any way. In fact, it discourages the students from studying and the student will think that they are doing good, but they're not.

TIPPS Yagoona is an excellent tutoring college, especially for Mathematics (High School and HSC 2U-4U).

Students are placed in classes according to their abilities (determined by numerous tests); theory is well-presented and clearly explained; homework and preparation for exams is rigorous and extremely well-planned; class pace is fast; teachers are top-notch, responsive and encouraging.

Overall, a wonderful experience; well worth the time and fees. Attending Kobskii's HSC Mathematics classes were most enjoyable, and assisted tremendously with HSC exams, because of his perspicuous teaching method.

This tutoring college is the best of the best! Some of the teachers there are qualified and teaches at selective schools such as Hurlstone Agriculture. unfortunately for some it only teachers from years 7-12. subjects that are taught there includes; Maths 2 unit and up, Physics, chemistry and English. The fees there are $20/hour so it is expensive.
I would highly recommend this college as it gives a great student experience as well as upgrading marks with their teaching techniques.

Does not work for my chld, extremely disappointed.
Like other colleges pre uni, james An etc... only half of the students do well, the rest failed.

Best? More like worst. This place isn't even worth the time or effort.
