Tusk is a Sri Lankan restaurant, which is a rare find in Australia.
We have a lot of 'indian' restaurants, cafes and fast food eateries, but none that focus on sri lankan food, and do it with pride and quality. That is where Tusk steps up.
In terms of surrounds, expect a small cosy bistro setting with some sri lankan touches - forget the dark hardwood bistro chairs, slick black finishes and the pther characteristics that are so definitive of modern western bistros, instead you have light coloured timber chairs, coloured table cloths, brass/copper wall ornaments. On the whole is it neat and comfortable.
Moving onto the food, the standard is high. Expect high quality ingredients, good execution, careful presentation - a pleasant and authentic experience overall.
We had hoppers filled with various curries and sambal, some really interesting and tasty main dishes which I had never eaten before, and an amazing dessert that was essentially a coconut custard pudding topped with jaggery and cashews.
A new and interesting experience. Definitely well recommended, and good value too.
