Beautiful spot for traditional Italian cuisine. Food is delicious and great views as well from their balcony. Service is lovely here

Tutto Bene has always been one of my favourite places for dining in Melbourne, but after our recent experience we won't be returning.

On our last visit, we were served by four or five wait staff, who seemed to be disorganised, even though the restaurant was less than half-full. We were asked for our drinks order twice; whether we had to leave early for a show two or three times; and when one waiter cleared away our entree plates, he asked whether we were expecting any more food!

Our bread rolls had been heated in the oven and were so hard that they couldn't be torn apart, and could only be cut with great difficulty.

When we sat down, the waitress asked whether we wanted mineral water, and filled two small water glasses from what appeared to be a standard 375ml bottle. Later in the evening, she asked whether we wanted any more water, and when we said yes, she responded that she would have to open another one-litre bottle, so we declined. When we checked the bill, we had been charged $9.50 for a one-litre bottle of water! At that stage we didn't feel like arguing about it, especially as the waitress who finalised our bill couldn't figure how to work the EFTPOS machine, and had to call the manager.

I feel that Tutto Bene is trading on its reputation at this stage, but there are so many restuarants in Melbourne which are keen to provide excellent service that we won't be returning.

Love this restaurant. Authentic, good quality Italian food. It is a bit pricy but you are paying for the quality and good service. It's great for a treat every now and then!

A nice intimate restaurant in the Southgate complex. If you can get a balcony table, there are beautiful views over the yarra across to flinders st station. It is an italian restaurant. The gelati is also recommended

I have eaten at the restaurant a few times and the risotto is always top notch. You get a pretty generous serving and they change the menu occasionally so you're not always having the same as last time. The view of the city is gorgeous from here so try and get a balcony seat if you can! Even if I have had dinner elsewhere I will always come to Tutto Bene for their gelati. They have the best flavours and the intensity of their fruit gelatis are superb. My favourite is the sour cherry, but they are always changing their selection depending on the season.

I have been coming to Tutto Bene since my first Valentines Day as a 15 year old - over a decade now. Whilst it has changed substantially over the years, I still enjoy coming here. The atmosphere is intimate and cozy, without being deathly quiet - there is a nice warm buzz that gives the place a pulse. My favourite waitress is still there, though her hair is grey now and she has cut it short. If you get her you'll know her straight away - she's Italian with a husky voice and a wonderful way about her. Before Simon Humble left the restaurant you were able to order lots of tapas plates for the table but they have consolidated the menu somewhat. Still, the quality is there, and the authenticity of the cuisine is intact. Don't forget to try the olive oil and the gelati, as they're made by the house and have won multitudes of awards

loved this place for a romantic dinner, lovely view overlooking the river, really nice place for a special dinner or a quiet palce to chat over good food. Heard reviews about the risotto as a few have said on here and it was fantasic, had the pumpkin one, forget the name but was delish. Service was a bit lacking in the way that she looked like she had worked there for years and over her job or something, not a good way to earn a tip. Really liked this place and would go back just hope next time we get a happier waiter.

Was quite happy with this restaurant, after hearing good things about their risotto. It's in a lovely spot overlooking the river, great for a nice romantic dinner or pre show. I had the caprese risotto which was delicious. They have a great choice of risottos, pasta and meat dishes and also have a gelato bar.

I went for a quick lunch..
I had an entree (just fill my stomach - snack) - To be honest the scallops were just average.
I could say this because the scallops were tiny, dry and lacking any seasoning - flavor.

Service was great, the staff is knowledgable .. Happy with the service...

On the other hand, Value - not so much! quite expensive..

We went to the restaurant for dessert, after 9pm. At this time, the place was not full.
When we explained that only the dessert menu was required, the waiter was hesitant and said he would have to check if this was alright. We were allowed to choose dessert - but there was a marked difference in the manner they treated us. The dessert was pleasant, but nothing spectacular, and portions were very small.
I would not be returning.
