For my first car, I really was concerned about being taken for a ride with unnecessary costs and inflated fees. I originally started by going to a local mechanic but was disappointed with poor attention to detail, and a few times things were occasionally forgotten or missed, so a few years ago I decided to try Volkwerke. Night and day difference – I think they were slightly more expensive, but even so I think they're better value, as the repairs have been done more thoroughly, and they also use genuine VW parts. The costs involved with every repair and service have been clearly communicated, which I really valued. I'm a student, and my car is an older 2003 model, and they have provided useful cost-effective advice about what is and is not worth repairing. There are no free coffees, and they don't even seem to remember my name, but Dean and the other guys have definitely worked hard to earn trust – I would definitely recommend them to anyone with a euro car.

Drove about 40mins to Volkswerke to send my car in for a repair recently and found out 2 weeks later that the officla VW dealer nearby could have fixed it cheaper. Felt cheated honestly and dissappointed to what I thought could have been a great alternative for my regular workshop.

Had my Golf serviced at Volkwerke. Came and picked up and dropped off a couple of km away - friendly and professional. I always check oil / filters etc after a service and was pleased to see everything was done as stated. A straightforward job - but done well (struggle to award 5 stars for a simple job). Will be having my next service here.

Trustworthy mechanics - know their stuff when it comes to VWs and their little quirks! Really looked after me when it comes to some expensive replacement parts that were required - happy to look at re-conditioned options/second hand etc.
