I’ve recently completed renovations to my kitchen and bathroom and it was recommended to me by my plumber to proceed with Glasskote for my kitchen glass splashback.

I researched their website along with others and after receiving multiple quotes I progressed with GlassKote. Their quote was competitive and when I asked for an estimation on fabrication and installation time frame I was told it wouldn’t take any longer than 2 weeks.

Things started to go wrong in the transaction when I received a phone shortly after the initial measuring (approximately 3 days later) and was advised there had been a mistake made and they would have to re-attend for another measurement. I accepted this without question and restructured my schedule to make sure I was home.

Another 4 or 5 days passed and I had received nil communication from GlassKote, so I contacted their office and queried when I could expect installation to which I was told there had been yet another mistake and they had re-attend for another measurement (this would now take it to 2 weeks). I was frustrated however excepted there was little I could do.

Finally after 3 and a half weeks, the installation took place …. Or so I thought. One of the 3 pieces of splashback had been cut approx. 10mm to short and as a result it would have to be re-cut.

Again I accepted the indiscretion without a word and was advised it would be at least a week till completion. I patiently waited exactly one week before yet again, I had to contact GlassKote to inquire when the installation would be completed. I was given a date and adjusted my schedule accordingly.

The final installation date had finally arrived again … Or so I thought. The installation was completed only for the gentleman to stand back and say, “it’s the wrong colour”.

At this stage I was furious and called GlassKote to speak to a manager or supervisor. I informed him of the now 5 week process I had endured and the 5 occasions I had to reschedule my plans to make sure I was home at a time that suited them! I further explained that I had received minimal to nil communication throughout the whole process and wasn’t given so much as a, “sorry for the inconvenience” .

His reply to me was, “I’m unaware of what’s taken place with the job and I’ll have to look into it”. After a long and frustrating 6 weeks of let downs the installation was completed. There has been no offer of remuneration/discount or an apology to date but you best believe the very next day they deducted the remaining balance from my credit card without hesitation.

In summary, there seems to be level of incompetence in communication not only between the business and the client but between the fabrication team, installation team and administration. I don’t know if I’m an exception to the rule and GlassKote are normally a proficient running business but the handling of my case in particular has left a foul taste in my mouth and I’ll be sure never refer them to anyone in the future. I will actually actively suggest to anyone I know building or conducting renovations NOT to consider GlassKote for their work.

The 1 star is for nothing more than the product itself and the colour chosen.

I used this company to do the glass splash back in my kitchen. I went into the showroom and the sales women was very helpful. I took a sample of the benchtop and she advised me the best colour to match it, and I could take a sample home to try out the colour and see if I liked it or not. The installation was very professional and the guys did a wonderful job and made sure the kitchen was left spotless.
