Hands down the worst ever experience with a tradesman that we've ever had in 25 years. The workmanship of walls, steps and a letterbox on our landscaping job was structurally very poor and non compliant to council and safety standards and when we approached [Removed word] of the business to discuss these issues, he got very unpleasant and derogatory, taking our discussion very personally and eventually he left Sydney without rectifying the faulty work. Several engineers and a dry stone wall specialist inspected the work and agreed that it was totally unsatisfactory. We could not pay the final payment as we needed the work completed and repaired and advised [Removed word] of this. [Removed word] of this business came back one morning and was threatening, aggressive and nasty, demanding his money immediately without the work being completed and causing such stress that a neighbour called the police. The police advised us to call Fair Trading and we then found out that he was unlicenced to work in NSW. We've had to have a large proportion of the work demolished and rebuilt at our own cost and we're still paying and getting work done to repair the missing, non compliant and incomplete work.
NSW Department of Fair Trading subsequently successfully prosecuted and fined Waddell for various breaches in this case.
