This small place with slightly "loud" orange chairs is a real find in Seddon. There are a few interesting food shops in this little area of Charles Street and I think this one will quickly gain in popularity. If I could give 6 stars for service, I certainly would. The very cheerful and kind gentleman greeted me as soon as I went in, and before I'd even mumbled more than a few words about something to take away, he asked me if I was alright. I'd just come from a visit to the Dentist around the corner and I must have looked much like I was feeling. He offered me some warm water to rinse out my mouth, and gave advice about soft and easy to eat items off the menu. Definitely gave me a feeling of warmth and care you don't often get when just popping into a random shop.

I ended up with an exquisite rice dish - like a special fried rice but with the additions of lots of egg, slightly crispy onion, lettuce, carrot and various other delicate spices which gave it a distinctive flavour. This little restaurant's mission is to bring the best of Malaysian/Indonesian street kitchen food and give it a fresh, modern twist. I think they're certainly onto something. I also had the Satay Chicken sticks, served with a little pot of sauce separately so you can judge how much you want for yourself. Pleasantly spicy without going over the top.

Attention to detail, even in a plastic take-away container was wonderful - laid on a bed of a coriander sprig, thin slice of cucumber and some carrot shreds.

Many other menu items to choose from - wok fried noodles or rice dishes and curries and laksas.

I'll be back and not alone - as much for the food as the warm welcome.

Our family of four had the Nasi Lemak, Curry Laksa and Chicken Noodle Broth. The food was delicious and authentic Malaysian, which is hard to find outside of the city. Beautifully presented, portions were good, and they were generous with the sambal belacan (chilli) which my husband loves. The guy who runs the place made us feel like we were friends having a meal at his home. Prices were more reasonable than some food courts we've been to. All in, a great place for a family lunch on Sunday. We'll definitely be back.

Approximate cost: $10.50
