Located in a stately Victorian mansion, just 15 minutes from the CBD, Woodland House is the collaboration of two of Melbourne’s most exciting young chef’s Thomas Woods & Hayden McFarland.
The pair met under the watchful tutelage of renowned chef Jacques Reymond and quickly became a dynamic team sharing the leadership of the multi-award winning kitchen. Combining their youthful energy with an unerring respect for the quality and provenance of raw produce they have created an innovative cuisine of their very own.
Taking over from their mentor in early 2014 the new owners have reinvigorated the Williams Road space with their paired back, minimalist style, breathing new life into the venue.
Their highly seasonal menu focuses on local and native produce with European influences. Dishes such as ‘Flinders Island wallaby, palm heart and candied cumquat’ could be followed by ‘white chocolate, apple, bush mint and eucalyptus’. With their clever and whimsical approach to fine dining, Woods and McFarland aim to strengthen Melbourne’s designation as the food capital of Australia.
Open for dinner from Tuesday-Saturday and lunch Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
Woodland House also caters for a variety of private events.
