Decent japanese food at a reasonable price. It is not fine dining, so accordingly the surrounds are not spectacular and waitresses more difficult to wave down. Everything else however is perfect. A good range of choices for vegetarians

This is a very affordable Japanese restaurant. I ordered a Udon Noodle Soup which has carrot, spring onion, egg, beef and prawn. It cost under $13. It was delicious! This meal was listed at the back of the English part of the menu and we required some help from the waitress to order. We also ordered some Sake. The waitress said you can drink it hot or cold but recommended hot (which we went with). What a surprise and well worth trying. The menu for the sake was a whole page. This was around $12 and we shared about 8 shot glasses. Lastly I ordered ice cream with a sweet bean. $3.50 and also amazing. Overall the venue is very quaint and personal, so may need to book in advance. Found in a back (blue stoned) street near China Town. The service was very good and even though our waitress spoke little English, she was polite & very helpful with her recommendations, which were very good. I would definitely go there again :) Also, a big vegetarian menu as well.

I was looking for a good priced restaurant close to the theatre district to have a meal before seeing a show, and saw some positive reviews for this restaurant. I ordered some sashimi and tonkatsu (pork), my dinner partner ordered sushi. Whilst my sashimi was delicious, the pork was very dry and tough, and nowhere near a meal size that one would normally expect. The sushi was riddled with wasabi, which some people cannot handle. Both my dinner parnter and myself have had sushi many, many times (in Japan, as well as around Melbourne), and neither of us had come across wasabi IN the sushi before. The waitress was asked to bring another plate of sushi, and when she did, she proceeded to tell us that it is normal for the wasabi to be in the sushi and to advise when ordering for it not to be.
We sat around for quite a while after finishing our meals, seemingly invisible to the staff. We considered ordering more food (we were still hungry!), but decided against it as it didn't appear they cared if we were there or not!
Won't be going back.

The environment is good, i was impressed with the decorating in the small space. The food is nice too and the tempura is great! It's traditionally cooked and the taste was really good. Anyway, the foods are quite expensive.. Me and my boyfriend spent over $55 for the meal. a bit overprice though. Recommend to booking before you go too because the place is really small and crowd :) Worth to have a try there! :D

I went here on a recommendation from a friend and was really happy with the quality of the food. The sushi was so fresh and the gyzoses were melt in your mouth. When my husband and i have Japanese we like to order a few dishes and share them - this worked really well although the restaurant is very small and we did find ourselves running out of room. We spent $88 which included 4 drink and our meal. We normally spend more than that with less quality so i was really happy with the meal and will go back.

very busy, I was waiting for seat. food is traditional Japanese food, but bit pricey. I will suggest going there during lunch cos it is cheaper and would like to go there earlier for dinner.

This is a real Japanese restaurant owned by japanese (and not Chinese like a lot of Japanese places in Melbourne). The cooked food dishes and sushi are fresh and very good value. It is also BYO which is a rarity. It has one tatami room which seats about 8 people.
