We recently stayed at Yarra Valley Estate and loved it. It's only an hour's drive from Melbourne, but in a beautiful country setting. We woke up on a Saturday morning to a peaceful view of green hills and gum trees. As well as visiting several wineries nearby we enjoyed gourmet foods in the towns of Yarra Glen and Healesville. Yarra Valley Estate has lots to keep you fit too - a gym, tennis, swimming pool and a fabulous Vegie "Forrest" in progress. It's a great place to stay to relax or to hold a wedding.

Excellent fresh fruit and veggies, top notch grass fed beef and other meats including amazing free range bacon, great staff, gourmet treats, breads, cheeses AND wine. Makes the supermarket almost redundant and is an alternative offering much better quality.

Love shopping for our fruit and veg here. They've got a good selection and lots of gourmet treats too. I always get the sugar coated almonds. Very season oriented, so you can't always get what you'd get in a supermarket, but the quality is better. Really friendly staff.

Sick of buying your limp lettuce in a bag? Or getting tasteless tomatoes and old broccoli? Well, I was too. I wanted an alternative to Safeway and Coles' plastic wrapped fruit and vegetables. I also wanted to support local produce that is organic and has a lower carbon footprint than other fruit shops. So, I discovered Gateway Estate!

Now, I do all my fruit, vegetable and meat shopping here. They sell in season varieties mostly and its just about all grown either on site in their hydroponic greenhouse or local to the area. Their meat is aged, grass-fed and absolutely beautiful. My husband is a huge meat-eater and he swears by their steaks. You can get local organic breads, local cheeses and they also stock pasta. The best part is the wine! Spend over $30 on groceries and you can get a bottle of wine for half price! We love the shiraz! They do tastings as well!

Since shopping here, I haven't once had to deal with floppy zucchinis, old potatoes or slimy lettuces. And, if I don't use my veggies within two days, they're still fresh and crisp. Not like any supermarket fruit and veg I've come across!
