This is a great little find of a fish shop. Don't know how I haven't found them before. But they are sort of side-lined in the one way street parallel to the Railway line and Altona station. You can't turn right from Pier St but have to come around the block from the back to angle parking. It's a smallish shop, very pleasant and clean and very obliging owner who was almost ready to close up but said he would still cook for us.

It's the "old style" of fish and chip shop - where you still get the extra potato cake than you ordered. The chips, dim sim, potato cakes and fish were all extremely fresh, and tasty, not overcooked at all but melt in the mouth. Batter light and crispy.
Most menu items are all great value - flake was $5 for a good sized piece, four sizes of chips to choose from, including a "cup of chips" for $2.50. Lots of packs available such as a family pack and dinner pack etc. Flake pack was $8.50 for a flake, potato cake, dim sim, calamari ring, chips and lemon and tartare sauce. Burgers and souvlaki also available.
Open Mon - Thurs and Sat 11.00 - 8.00, Fri to 8.30 and closed on Sunday.
We parked by the water in the evening, ate our fishy delights and walked on the sand. A very pleasant outing for the start of the school holidays. My one regret - I didn't get a deep fried Mars bar for $2. Next time!

Approximate cost: $8 - 10
