My business partner and I had lunch at this restaurant three times in the last 10 days. We chose is randomly the first time, then deliberately the second and third times because of the good experiences we'd had. We'll certainly be dining there again, regularly.

The ambience is very friendly and relaxing, as is the service. There was no pressure to decide, and the service was impeccable — friendly, unobtrusive, helpful, professional and skilled. The decor is chic and comfortable without being intrusive or overbearing.

The food is excellent and consistent in quality and presentation. It's also imaginative and appealing. Prices are very reasonable and the portions are good. I tend to limit my luncheon intake under doctor's orders, while my partner needs a solid meal because of his high levels of physical activity during the day. So we're exposed to a broad spectrum of dishes, from the delicious soups I often order to the desserts that neither of us would now miss.

As a customer I have only praise for this business. As a professional marketer I have one concern: in trying to recommend the business to several others, there was confusion as to the location because the signage still reflects the previous tenant (also a cafe restaurant). Not a difficult task now that the business seems to be well established, but it's very likely that it could be losing diners because of that confusion.

This review is for MOS MOBILES, Doncaster East VIC

verified email - 20 Dec 2012

I was desperate to buy a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 before Christmas. Telstra had nothing for a month. Optus and TeleChoice offered 1-2 weeks delivery. I noticed Mo's Mobiles had demos on display and in stock. I bought one on the spot.

Anurag, the manager, was excellent: professional, laid-back, helpful and patient. He explained everything, suggested alternatives and options, solutions to related needs and more. A couple of follow-up issues I had were resolved immediately (my own fault, too).

Since then (one week) I've had only great experience with the phone and mobile service, and I'd recommend Mo's at The Pines to anyone wanting first-class customer service.

Their Mobile number is 0415 239 968.

Frank Newstead is a legend in the field of business books, videos, audios, etc. He knows the names of just about every title, author, subject, publisher and is a wealth of knowledge and advice. Anytime you wander into Success Centre bookstore you may run into a top author, trainer, or business coach chatting to Frank... he's the go-to guy for everything in success-related publications. If you're like me, and prefer to browse bookshelves and inhale printing ink, you'll give Amazon a miss and get in touch with Frank. His web site carries a humongous catalogue, with online buying as well if that's what you prefer.

If you're into Macs, get 'em here. It's not a trendy company store. It has real people who really know their stuff and are genuinely friendly and helpful. They have good quality refurbished Macs and peripherals, too, and give sound advice. Great service team, too. I've had nothing but good experiences over more years than I can remember (at least 10).

This review is for Panic Pizza, Doncaster East VIC

One really bad experience put me off buying here for a while. Easily the worst pizza I've ever eaten. Almost NOTHING in the way of toppings on an undercooked base. Seriously lousy lunch! Other times have been okay. Nothing special, but good eating and reasonable value. Easy parking and access.

This review is for Ali's Kebab Stall, Mitcham VIC

Ali and his crew make kebabs I happily drive miles for. Wrapped in foil to keep them hot and safe, with foil-lined outer bag as well. Plenty of variety. Traditional middle-east salads or European. Lamb, chicken or mixed. Drinks, extras. Everything fresh, hot and fast. Always a group of customers waiting delivery, which speaks volumes in winter! I understand he's opening a shop in Doncaster East, either Tunstall Square or Devon Plaza. Even better!

This review is for Carlucci's, Templestowe VIC

I've eaten here since it opened. Great environment and location. Outside on a sunny day, the view is terrific. Service is always good, friendly. Carlucci's is what Italian-style hospitality is all about. Nobody does it better. Good food, plenty of variety, plenty of it and well-priced. Great cakes and desserts, too.

Approximate cost: $15

The Templestowe Hotel smorgasbord (lunch and dinner) is a long time favourite for me. It clean, the food is fresh, the variety is excellent, there's plenty of seating, natural light, it's not noisy or crowded and the staff are friendly and helpful. Eat as much (or as little) as you like. Excellent value for money. Plenty of parking.

The gelati they make and sell here (eat in or take away) is amongst the best in Melbourne. Prices and range are good. Hygiene seems satisfactory. Tasting spoons are available free of charge.

Service is often indifferent. Cleaning suffers badly during busy times. McCafé food is often unavailable, despite being on display in the cabinet (is it ALL just display food? Or just some of it? They serve it all the time). Bizarre. Drive through is better since the extra lane was added.

Approximate cost: $9
