This review is for Adana Turkish Restaurant, Ipswich QLD

We went expecting a traditional Turkish experience but were bitterly disappointed with the food and are unlikely to go again. I don't mind paying for good food but this was very expensive for what you get. Mezze entree was okay - I've had better but have also had worse - but very nice Haloumi entree was spoiled by the introduction of tossed peas and sultanas; not sure what's going on there... However it all goes downhill at the mains: they were appalling and did not reflect Turkish cuisine at all. My concern is for people whose first introduction to Turkish food is Adana that it may very well turn them off for life, which is such a shame as this restaurant, apart from the decor, bears no relation to authentic Turkish cuisine. It appears that they think that in Ipswich you have to make the food more "Aussie" (by serving meat with vegetables and chips) in order to get customers. In fact, quite the opposite will occur and I suspect that unless Adana change their menu they will not be open for very much longer. The waitress said that the owner used to own Ahmets at Southbank? I find that very hard to believe as you simply cannot compare the two restaurants. We will continue to travel for nearly an hour to Caravanserai or Ahmets to get our fix of Turkish food rather than go 20 mins to Adana.

Approximate cost: $30
