[Retdacted personal identifier] is the worst tradesman I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. If I could rate this a NEGATIVE I would. Firstly, he came 2 hours late for the job. I explained to him I did not live there and wanted to meet him upfront to explain the job. I came spot on 3pm the agreed time and called him at 3.15- he kept stalling me "just another half hour" , "will definitely be there by 4pm". I told him I could not wait any longer as I had other appointments. I left him access to the house and he finally arrived after 5pm while I was away. Note that he never bothered to call me to even keep me updated - I had to continually chase him to see where he was at. I understand that people get held up but there was zero communication; no apology; nothing. It was around 9pm when I arrived home and thought we should go and meet him, say hello, see how things were going and also to to be clear on the expectations. My husband and I had to carry our two sleeping children with us into the property. We walked in and I shouted out "hello"; he stopped what he was doing and stared at me like I was a rude intruder. He just stood there staring at us in awkward silence and an angry face. I said that we were there just to see how things were going yet were left with more silence. In the absence of any conversation, I started meandering around having a look at progress. Immediately I could see that all the holes that had been cut for the downlights were CROOKED. When I said, are these holes crooked, he said "they should be alright". He became enraged that we questioned his work and told me to get myself and my kids off his work site and that he would not tolerate it. I was astounded that someone would tell me to get out of my own house when I had made my best efforts to be on time, and to speak with him and also to have the money ready and waiting for him. It had been a long day and I burst into tears. His colleague was very pleasant and then gave a run-down on where things were at. After this, [Retdacted personal identifier] then flatly said to my husband "from now on can I talk to you and not her" pointing at me. He also accused me of "asking for freebies" despite that I had asked him for a range of things to be complete and this was before he came on site and we agreed to the quote; he had only to say yes or no before agreeing to the job. The next day he came back and finished the job (This was despite him saying that it would only take half a day when in fact he took two days. I had previously stressed to him the urgency of him being on time and finishing in one day as I had other tradies waiting for him to finish. This was all advised to him before he accepted the job.) I paid him cash on that second day for the job and he said to my husband that he would provide an invoice - which to this day HAS NOT BEEN RECEIVED. I was hoping and praying that would be he last I would ever have to do with him or hear from him. A week later after our holiday, we came back to find that the lights were flickering and NOT TURNING ON. When we reported these issues to him, he insisted that WE NEEDED A NEW SWITCH BOARD BEFORE EVEN COMING TO LOOK AT THE ISSUE. My husband said how about you come and have a look first to assess; IF it is the switchboard then we can update it then, but we think that it is the connections. He said he would be in contact to organize a time for the following week. I felt very uncomfortable based on his response; shirking his responsibility and not even contemplating that there might be any fault on his part. We then called in ANOTHER electrician WHICH WE PAID MORE $$ for. He took apart the light connections and found that they HAD NOT BEEN CONNECTED PROPERLY. The new electrician FIXED THESE PROBLEMS within 30 MINUTES. When [Retdacted personal identifier] called today to confirm the time I replied and said that I don't think the problem is the switch board - his response was that he wasn't coming on Wednesday unless it was for us to pay him more $$ and upgrade our switchboard!!! Disgusting!! I then said to him look we have already had an electrician rectify the cables which were not connected properly and he promptly started ranting and raving and accusing me of "hiding things from him" . He also claimed that I was happy with his job as I paid him cash on handover. Note; I did not dare mention the crooked lights again on handover or any other issues because I was terrified of being bullied and yelled at by him further. Oh and all this after he left his ladder at our place and pretended to be nice to me see if we had it and I left it out for him. Disgusting conduct. I deeply regret EVER speaking or dealing with him. Happy to post photos of his crooked work including the light switch which is ALSO CROOKED. BE WARNED. If it wasn't for the final straw today I would not have just wasted a further hour of my life dwelling about this appalling experience in order to write it up and warn others.
