I wish I had read the reviews before booking. I booked recently for a very small move of a friend - a vulnerable unemployed man being evicted from a small unit - with the stuff going to a storage unit. Based on the size and distance of move, and initial quote, I estimated the move to take apprx 2.5 hrs, and no more. The day they were booked (a Sat), they were 2 hrs late, so had to reschedule the move to Mon as the storage was closing. On the day, two men arrive, and start moving extremely slow, rude/talking to each other, wasting time, one of them took twenty minutes on the toilet while the other was ambling around!! When the 2.5 hr mark approached, they demanded $400 cash to unload half the load that was still in the truck. When X refused, they reloaded truck and left. X was left confused, and distressed. When I rang the office, the reception staff, was panicking. She advised us "to just agree to pay and you can contact the office to sort it out" which I took as a reasonable action, expecting that the company would reimburse us some money, perhaps as they had no control of the movers they employ. However, not to be: the movers returned and demanded an additional $170 now that they had wasted even more time. When the poor guy on the receiving end had no option but to pay them a total of $576 in cash, they just left the goods on the middle of the driveway of storage company and took off! In total, they charged a poor man $676 (including the deposit which I paid). I then had to leave my work for the day and go out to help my friend move his furniture to the storage unit, which had been callously dumped on the driveway by the movers, having charged $570 on the day and $670.00 in total with deposit!! The following day when I called the 'company', who don't have a complaints line or any customer support, I again spoke with a panicking (but well intentioned) rep, who gets their 'operations manager' on the phone. They seemed well versed in this game and completely at ease - she blamed us, stating: "if you didn't refuse to pay they would have finished the job... "It is you who refused to pay... so your fault.." etc. When I reported to her that her men wasted time etc. and what we had been promised the previous day she screamed at the rep apparently 'verifying' this, only to rudely dismiss my grievance, stating "and I want to win Tattslotto"!!! This is truly the most horrible experience from a 'service' that I have ever encountered. However, worse still, this seems to be a pattern if you read the reviews.
