If your visiting the Blue Mountains, the must see destination would be The Three Sisters at Echo Point Katoomba. After taking in the beautiful view from the several look out points why not wounder on over to the Blue Mountains Visitor Information Centre. (and gift shop)

Here you will of course find all the regular tourist information as well as a gift shop which offers a wide variety of souvenirs and trinkets. In search for a spoon for my mother's collection in we went.

I have to say this is the best tourist gift shop in the entire Blue Mountains. I found most of the gift shops around the area only catered to the over seas market and were very disappointing but this shop had everything you would expect from post cards to key rings to plush toys for the kids and local produce like honey and jam.

Offering a beautiful view (and best view) of the three sisters it's worth dropping in to pick up a small momento. We picked up a magnet which is now on our fridge as a reminder of our honeymoon getaway.

This review is for Scenic World Blue Mountains, Katoomba NSW

Scenic World offers a variety of experiences for exploring the beautiful and picturesque Jamison Valley and Katoomba falls.

Offering "tours" from just $16 per adult for the skyway return through to the best value discovery pass which allows you return access to all attractions.

On our visit the Scenic Railway was unavailable as the current line is being renewed we were still able to experience the Skyway, Cableway and Walkway.

The Skyway offers a beautiful view over the valley and the falls, the cable way is very exciting as it makes it's deep decent into the forest below. The walkway is a very nice and very easy walk through the rainforest with an interesting look into the areas past coal mining heritage.

What is disappointing is the rides are very short, they do however travel between locations every 7-10 minutes which allows for a short wait for your return to "scenic world" this allows you to take the walk ways and marvel at the views from the numerous look outs and points of interest on the way.

The service is about what you expect, nothing to special just satisfactory. I do recommend getting in early as the place soon fills up, being one of the more popular destinations in the Blue Mountains.

Our cable car ride was nice excluding the SCREAMING Children... on decent but our trip back was far from it.. On our return we ended up being crammed into the cabin like sardines, the 'operator' requested no more people get on yet they still crammed into the cabin. I did wonder if the cabin had a holding capacity and what that was... despite the constant requests people where still attempting to get into the cabin while the doors where being closed!

People were very pushy and rude, I notice a lot of Japanese tourists on tour amongst us and I wondered if perhaps they had not understood the request that no more people enter the cabin... it made for a very unpleasant ride back, we were very uncomfortable and unable to see what the operator was trying to get our attention to see.

The skyway was a much more relaxed experience.

The gift shop is VERY disappointing tailoring to the overseas tourists.

Over all it is a nice scenic adventure. Well worth a visit while in the blue mountains. Just pick your times well!

This review is for Talisman Gallery, Little Hartley NSW

verified email - 18 Dec 2012

Traveling through the blue mountains on our honeymoon "The Talisman Gallery" and Cafe caught my attention. So we pulled in for a look but it was closed... Though the beautiful dragon statue outside was enough to bring us back for another look.

We went back to the gallery when it was open and there were a lot of very nice items on display for sale. If you like Dragons you will love the gallery, there are so many dragon statues, candle holders and even a dragon chandler.

There is a wide selection on display from metal work to jewellery.

The prices are very varied and it's more about what you are willing to pay for something than how much it is really worth.

Service is pretty average, was hard to get someone's attention when we did want to purchase something.

Each piece is hand crafted and beautiful, perhaps not for everyone's tastes or price range but very much worth the look. They do have an online store, but it is nice to see the work in person.

This review is for Blue Mountains Mystery Tours, Springwood NSW

verified email - 18 Dec 2012

What a disappointment... I tried booking a Mystery Tour for our honeymoon to the blue mountains, I tried booking months in advance as not to be disappointed... Well according to the website the availability on the Mystery tour is Daily at 1.00 pm, daylight saving time 2.00 pm or when required. Apparently not... I tried booking the mystery tour for Monday the second day of out honeymoon, wanting to do the scenic tour first before we seen everything there was to see I was informed that the Mystery tour was only available on Friday or Saturday...

I than tried to arrange a booking for Friday or Saturday for just the Ghost Tour as we thought being in the area for the whole week we would have seen the scenic side of the tour... I received no response for more the two weeks... I had sent emails and called and left messages on the message service.. No response... I even sent text messages...

When I sent yet another message through the contact us on the website and asked that I not be ignored as I would like to pay my deposit and secure my booking I was FINALLY called back... only to be told the reason I had not been contacted was there was no other bookings at that time and they needed at least 4 people (we had 2) for that tour...

At this stage I have to wonder why you can take a mystery tour which is half scenic and half ghost tour with just 2 people but you can't take a ghost tour with just 2 people... Nevermind that...

I was told they would call me closer to the date and arrange the tour booking for the ghost tour if there were other bookings.. I than asked if there were no other bookings could we than book a mystery tour for either the Friday or the Saturday since I really wanted to do the ghost tour and figured if there were no other bookings this was going to be the only way I got to do it... I was told this would be fine and they would be in touch closer to the date to arrange booking etc...

I was NEVER contacted!!

I was not at all impressed by the lack of service. When it states on the website that these tours are available as required one would think that means you are able to book a tour to your request apparently as required and daily translates to Friday and Saturday if we can be bothered to reply to you.

Service is terrible, judging on that one would have to assume that the quality and value would be equally as bad... Since from what I have seen from the website most of the tour is assessable for free under your own guidance and steam.

Would avoid these tours just to avoid the disappointment.

This review is for Nineteen 23, Wentworth Falls NSW

verified email - 18 Dec 2012

WOW! I have never had a dining experience like this before. Nineteen 23 offers a very unique dining experience, rather than picking your own menu you are given the option of Seven courses: $70 per person or $105 with matching wines or Five courses: $55 per person or $80 with matching wines.

We chose to have the 7 course menu, while this might sound like a lot of courses the meal sizes are small so 7 courses is quiet satisfying.

Each dish comes out a surprise as it is the chefs choice of either dish on the menu. For those of you with special dietary needs or vegetarians you will be catered for, the staff ask if there are any special requirements and these are taken into account. I for example don't eat pork (less it's ham or bacon) so rather than Pork terrine we were served Gravlax of blue-eye cod.

The staff are well trained, friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive. We were served very quickly once we were seated. We had made a booking online and were given a choice of where to sit but where told we might like to take the window seat as a group of four was also expected next to the other window seat for two. I thought it was lovely that they thought of our romantic dinner for two. (The window seats offer a beautiful view of the houses gardens)

As it was our honeymoon we were offered a glass of champagne as a complimentary congratulations. I thought this was indeed a lovely touch.

The whole dining experience was divine. What a way to experience new foods. As it's chefs choice your not quiet sure what your going to get other than one of the two listed items, we sat discussing what we thought we would get and what we secretly hoped might come out.

The meals were served on one plate, two serves which were shared between us on our own individual plates.

Each meal was carefully created, high quality and very tasty. There was not one dish we were not impressed by.

Highly Recommended, Unique Dinning Experience!

This review is for Hunter Valley Chocolate Company, Lovedale NSW

verified email - 18 Dec 2012

On a recent road trip we went in search of the Hunter Valley Chocolate Factory... Our GPS soon got us lost so if you intend to take a trip out to Lovedale to visit this chocolate house... do your research first! (The do have an online store so if your curious it might save you some driving around in circles unless you want a weekend drive of course)

Once we did find the chocolate residence I have to admit I was some what disappointed by the chocolate selection. There is a display of what I think were slightly over price individual chocolates.

The rest of the produce here isn't so much chocolate based having a wide collection of lollies, honey, jam and other products as well which are not on the online store.

The liquorish we bought here however was really really good, as were the chocolate coated almonds and coffee beans... but at that price it's not something you want regularly but makes a very nice treat.

We did find the service really friendly and helpful.

Bottom line, Over priced, good quality but I'd check out online before taking the drive, the postage charge will likely be less than your petrol bill.

This review is for Endeavour Museum, Wollombi NSW

verified email - 18 Dec 2012

The Endeavour Museum is encased in what was once the Wollombi Courthouse build in about 1866. The cells and holding yards are still in tact and worth exploring. The collection contains a rich sample of the local and Australian colonial past.

The collection includes a variety of industrial, agricultural and mining artifacts as well as clothing, toys, crafts and antique furniture. Most things are clearly labeled, other items have their own stories to tell. There are many photos also to have a browse through which give you a real sense of the "olden days"

The museum offers a unique glimpse into a time past and is well worth the $2 entrance fee.

Souvenirs, walking maps, local and family history books are also available for purchase.

Approximate cost: $2 Adults

Country style and service at it's best! We had the pleasure of stopping at Cafe Wollombi while on a weekend road trip. We decided that we would stop into the tiny town for lunch.

What we found was a pleasant surprise. The food was delicious and fresh and the made to order fresh juice was wonderful!

The service was friendly and quick. The meals very reasonably priced. Worth a little drive out of the way.

Highly recommended!

This review is for Denison Street Automotive Services, Hamilton NSW

Denison Street Automotive Services as become our regular car servicing centre. We bought a new (second hand) car which we need to have regularly serviced for warranty, we took it to Denison Street Automotive since it was close to my husbands work place and his work colleagues recommended them We have continued our business with them.

We have always found their service and quality to be of the highest standard. They are always friendly and quick. When our car broke down outside my husbands work place they even offered him a car to loan to get home. When they give you a time it is always ready to go, cost wise they seem to be comparable with other mechanics so your sure to get a good deal!

This review is for Clipperty Crop Hair Studio, Uralla NSW

Cherie runs Clipperty Crop hair studio from her home. The studio is very tidy and well decorated, it is well set out and while being in her home you could just as easy be in any hair dressers shop.

Cherie offers all the standard services, cut, style, colours etc but she does not do wedding hair ups.

I went to Cherie for a cut and colour ($90) the day before my wedding. She was very careful not to stain my face with dye, she done a terrific job my hair looked tidy and shiny and was all ready to be styled on my wedding day.

All in all a good service, quality and value!
