My husband and I chose to go private for the birth of our second child after our oldest was born in the public system in a terrible birthing experience run by midwives that left me with serious injuries as a result of the birth.
We chose Dr Steve Sonneveld on the basis of several recommendations and we could not have made a better choice. Not only is he a genuinely lovely person, he is a very experienced and highly professional doctor. Nothing is ever too much trouble for his patients. Toward the end of my pregnancy, I made several out of hours calls to his mobile and every time he answered the phone straight away and provided me with the advice and assistance I needed.
His offices are conveniently located with plenty of on street parking. The offices are quiet and clean and his staff helpful. His wife also helps in the reception and she was absolutely lovely. We were never left waiting when we turned up for appointments - I think at worst case scenario we waited 5 minutes. His office is set up for children with plenty of toys in the waiting room and a handful of lollies out of his massive lolly jar for children in the consultation - my daughter loved going to appointments with me!
In short, it was an absolute pleasure having Dr Sonneveld look after me during the pregnancy. I had a few issues as a result of my first birth and this resulted in me requiring a c-section for medical reasons. Dr Sonneveld always explained everything very clearly and was very up front. He has an excellent bedside manner. When I went into labour early, he turned up at the hospital very very quickly and didn't muck around. As a result of Dr Sonneveld, my son's delivery was stress and incident free and I was well cared for. Other medical staff at the hospital also spoke of him in glowing terms. It was very reassuring having such a fantastic doctor and I have no hesitation in recommending him most highly.
