I purchased a "studio" for just under $11,000. There were three main things that were not acceptable.
1. The down pipes did not fit Australian standards. When I complained they were going to look into it and get back to me. Still waiting.
2. When the building went up you could see daylight through the joins in the prefabricated pieces. The roof was also bowed. There was no flashing on the edges of the roof . The erector came back to rectify the roof and attempt to close the gaps very promptly. No courtesy call to confirm that I was satisfied
3. Each tradesman who came to quote for further work to be done commented that there was not enough structure in the building to line it. When I queried this with Matt's Homes they quoted some building act that this "studio" came under. It was a glorified shed and it was certainly not marketed as such. They then said that if I wanted to use it as a bedroom I had to get council approval. Although we won't be using it as a bedroom it was the first time we had heard of this. It was sold to us as a "studio" which did not require council approval.
I looked at the unlined room and the lined room in the display yard and thought that it just needed to be lined to get to the finished product. Far from it.
After they clarified the act with me I said that it looked like an unfinished room just sitting on the dirt, I was then told that " I got what I paid for".
It has cost me a great deal more than I planned.
With tradesmen commenting negatively and my disappointment I would not be confident to recommend Matt's Homes.
