We dined at the restaurant in Brisbane using a pre-paid discount coupon. Stood in a queue while the manager seemed to be playing games on his computer (I actually think he was trying to shuffle bookings but it wasn't a good start). I think the coupon customers all were placed on the open verandah which, while warmed by a space heater was still a bit chilly and prone to cigarette smoke from people on the ground floor below. Service from our waitress Rachel was great – she was warm, friendly, knew her product and nothing seemed to faze her. Unfortunately she seemed to be let down by her fellow staff. Warm bread rolls and condiments were served without asking, only for us to discover them tacked onto our extras bill at the end! The entree (fresh scallops) was superb, the mains (wagyu roast with three "potatoes" the size of macadamia nuts) was great with sufficient sides (broccolini and fries). The wrong mains were delivered to our table by another waiter, causing a complicated shuffle of our uncleared entree plates before Rachel had to step in, apologise, and redeliver the meals to an adjacent table. I ordered a cheese board for dessert. Now, the special menu described "cheeses" plural, which turned out to be just one small piece of one variety of veined cheese. We had specifically asked for coffee to be served with our dessert, only to have the dessert arrive and Rachel having to apologise, again, that the restaurant had run out of milk (at 8.00pm) and someone was running out to a shop for supplies. Coffee, "sparkling" water and those bread rolls tacked another $26 to our "discounted" meal. I know I sound harsh but I think restaurants treat "coupon" customers with some disdain when they should be using the opportunity to win new full paying customers from the experience. The surroundings (forgetting the chill and smoke) were pleasant, the quality of the food was superb, and the service from the kitchen and our own waitress was very good. It's the other little things that spoiled the overall experience.

Kevin was the first to call me back and was happy to quote for everything I needed. And he didn't stick me for extra charges at the end of the job! He did lot of small odd jobs that I've been putting off – repainted a couple of doors, replaced some cracked floor tiles, plastered some holes in the wall and replaced the silicon around our sink. He's friendly and polite and definitely not nosey like some blokes we have had here. Not necessarily the cheapest but we've learned that we can rely on his quotes and the quality of his work. Highly recommended – he actually showed up when he said he would! Will definitely use his services again!
