Jeff Brooks is an amazing chiropractor and will be the best investment you can make on your health and well-being. Ever. I turned up on Jeff's door about four months ago. I was in extreme pain, I'd taken my fourth pain killer for the day when in desperation (after a good cry and a lie down didn't help), I thought this has got to stop. I went to Google maps and looked up the closest chiropractors to where I worked. Jeff wasn't the closest by a long shot but he had the most amazing reviews. And I guess that's what swayed me in the end and now; I'm adding my own experience to the mix. I started to get pain in my left shoulder down to my elbow since early December. This happened not long after my dog was run over and killed. I believe that the grief and loss of my dog was making me tense up my body and the pain in my arm got worse and worse. It wasn't the cause of the deeper problems but the last straw. At that point, I simply had not connected the dots between emotional pain and physical suffering. I had been to doctors, had extensive x-rays and echo-cardiograms (at one point, my GP thought I may have problems with my heart as I had associated pain in my jaw), I had lots of ultrasounds and consumed a lot of pain killers. My work was suffering and with that amount of constant pain combined with being out of it, I started to get quite depressed. I was an emotional and physical wreck when I walked into Jeff's chiropractic centre. He was extremely kind, empathetic and gave me some simple steps to start managing my health. The first adjustment freed up my neck where I got instant relief from the pain radiating down my left arm but my arm was the tip of the iceberg and Jeff and his team helped identify several key problems with my spine and hips that needed care. The journey has been a good one. Jeff's adjustments brought my spine back into alignment, and my mind, body and heart back into balance. It's not one thing; it's many things. Jeff's workshops help you understand that your own health is your key responsibility; from being mindful about posture and its impact on your organs, to eating and sleeping well, and that when the body is working well other things start to fall into place. The adjustments are simply the start to a better life. I started making small term goals with Jeff. Things to get my well-being back on track. I wanted to drink less, sleep better, exercise more and eat healthily. Since my work with Jeff and Alex who helped me with my feet, I can now run for 45 minutes on the treadmill - unheard of less than three months ago and next to impossible since knee surgery without crippling pain in my lower back and hips. I've lost about 8 kilos in five weeks, I don't have pain and I can feel my body strengthening. I've reduced my drinking significantly and consume a lot more water (seriously, you read this all the time but it is like MAGIC - no longer constantly dehydrated, the body has no choice but to heal). Physical pain does not consume all my thoughts now. I want to stretch my mind more and love my job and my life again. Advice I could give myself if I could back in time about ten years? Don't wait for a disaster to transform your life. Don't wait for pain to become unbearable before paying attention to your body. Health, more than any other aspect of life, is the basis for happiness. Don't stint on yourself; you're absolutely worth it!
