I was lured by Ms Jane's 'candid' style approach to photography. The honesty and actuality of her photographic portfolio compared to the stylized and standard images so many other wedding photographers shoot was a real stand-out. The end result after working with Jane on our wedding day did not disappoint. In hindsight I wish we'd have booked a longer package, but the images we take away with us (particularly of the ceremony and family shots) are certainly keepers and impress everyone we've shown. We began apprehensive about having a professional photographer at all to keep costs down. But as Ms Jane put it, aside from the memories, the photos are all you come away with once the day has passed. We are so glad we spent the money and Jane was exactly the photographer we were looking for. With a variety of packages to suit all budgets, Ms Jane's other great appeal was that she provides all photos on a disc for you do with as you please. And this disc, unlike many of our friends who have waited weeks, even months for a final product (and in a lot of cases paid extra on top of their package for the disc!), our disc was available a mere week or so after our ceremony. Jane was a pleasure to work with. Her experience is evident through her confidence and portfolio and on the day she offered advice such as how to adjust my petticoat which was so appreciated. During family photos she was assertive to capture a complimentary photo and her journalistic approach also gave us photos of details that may have been otherwise overlooked and not remembered. Part of our package included a 100 page hardcover photo book. Due to only engaging Jane for a three hour package I found in order to fill our book there were some unecessary repetative images of the same thing and some photos that perhaps weren't our fave. But having the disc of all our photos allowed me to make our own photobooks, albums and copies in general which were used as thank you gifts for our guests. I would not hesistate to recommend Ms Jane and would use Ms Jane again in the future for any photographic endeavour. Her portfolio speaks for itself. The photographic memories we have now of our wedding day are looked upon with such fondness because so many of the moments were captured as they really happened as opposed to being staged and stagnant.

I cannot rave about this unassuming vegetarian diner-like restaurant enough. You pay for the size of plate you want (small, medium or large) and then have your plate filled with whatever you want from the counter selection of food. The 'home-cooked' vegetarian fare was amazing. I can't remember everything we tried but the lentil shepherd's pie and tofu salad were a delicious stand-out. It was all delicious, and also guilt-free because it feels so healthy! As we were here for a birthday, we topped off our excellent lunch with some dessert. Oh my god, these were the BEST desserts I have EVER eaten (also home-made on site). Chocolate and chestnut cake served with ice cream and double cream (we were unsure about the 'chestnuts' but i'm not kidding, I cannot get this cake out of my mind - it was SO good) and a raspberry crumble type dessert also with cream and ice cream which was a beautiful comparison. Our whole food experience here was superb and I cannot wait to go back. There is just something super honest about the food and serving it diner-style and rather than choosing one item from a menu you can fill whatever size plate you like with a bit of everything. Reasonably priced, friendly service - don't skip dessert!!

Approximate cost: $Plates $8-$14, dessert approx $6

Yum, yum, YUM! This was such a delicious meal with excellent vegetarian options and awesome prices. The vegetable gyoza was the best i've ever had. Can't go wrong with edamame to start and a Kirin. Love this place, will definitely be going back. Did I say yum yet?

After finding this business on WOMOW we phoned Sandy for a quote in Aug/Sep 2009 to clean a unit we were about to move into at the time that was left in a less than satisfactory state. Sandy came out to the unit, she was on time, friendly and personable however when shown the mold in the garage and en-suite from water damage Sandy advised us this was a serious health risk which she would not be cleaning and then warned us about moving in! We did withdraw our lease for this unit on the grounds it was unfit to live in and Sandy offered to support us as a cleaning professional if we had any trouble with the real estate. So in fairness I have not yet used this business, but with so many great reviews and our brief experience in getting a quote and valuable advice from Sandy I would definitely recommend her services and use her myself in future if/when the need arises.

We used Leigh Fortune of Carrington Prestige Limousines to drive us to our accommodation after our wedding reception late January. It may be that I had such an average experience with another company (YV Chauffeur Services) getting to our wedding that made Carrington stand out, but stand out they did. Leigh arrived early and was waiting outside our venue. He looked and was utterly professional, he did all the right things. Superb service, reasonably priced, I would recommend him to anyone for any trip.

We hired two chauffeur cars through YV to get myself, my Dad and my bridesmaids to our wedding late January. They arrived early which was great, cars looked good and were nice inside. Price was also reasonable. However the first car that my Dad and I took had problems with the brakes. My Dad who is a mechanic brought it up with the driver who had no real response on the issue, the brakes were audibly grating every time the car stopped. As if worn brakes weren't bad enough, our driver also talked the WHOLE time to our venue about a trip he was taking with his wife soon in their caravan. So not how I imagined the drive to my wedding would be. My bridesmaids driver I believe was better, guess I just lucked out. I would not however recommend this business. It should be standard for these sorts of things that the car is mechanically safe/sound and that the driver not talk about themselves unless asked. Fortunately we had organised another chauffeur service for after our wedding - Carrington Prestige - and this driver was GREAT. Wish we'd used them for the journey there!

Cool decor, good menu and lots on the specials board. Prices are reasonable, comparative to getting a fancy sandwich or bakery food elsewhere - $10-$14 for a proper meal (served beautifully) is pretty good in my book. Went for lunch with friends, the tofu pad thai was nice and a very large serving. Look forward to returning to try more. They also do cake and coffee.

Approximate cost: $Lunch $10-$14

This review is for Chateau Wyuna, Mount Evelyn VIC

Our wedding at Chateau Wyuna in January was unfortunately not as great as other reviews. Meetings prior to our wedding were all good, however a number of things on the day did not meet our expectations.

1. We were the second wedding on the day. When booking we were assured that start times are staggered (4pm then 6pm) so no two weddings should meet. This was far from our experience. When our guests started to arrive, the wedding before us and their guests were still on the grounds out the front of the chapel taking photographs. This led to much confusion as there was otherwise no other meeting place organised for our guests to wait.

2. The function room we chose (Treetop Room) held a 60th birthday prior to our wedding. This function did not finish until 4pm and were still packing up when the groom and groomsmen arrived at 5pm to put our own personal touches to the room. There were also 60th decorations left on the floor for our wedding reception that were missed when cleaning.

3. We opted to pay the additional $3.50 per chair to have them covered and decorated with coloured sashes. The colours we chose at our meeting were not the colours used on the day. When we questioned this after our wedding we were informed that a different-to-normal stockist had been used and therefore colours could not be matched. At a total cost of $210 this is unacceptable and should have been raised with us before the wedding.

4. Not enough food was served at our cocktail reception. After pressing many guests following our wedding most informed us they were very hungry. And it was not just them, I as the bride got very little food and was very hungry all night. We also paid an extra $2.50 per head for an extra food item so food should have been ample. Other issues included cold food items (rice paper rolls and semi dried tomato tartlet) being served hot. In general, of the variety of food items we selected most people did not get to try even one of everything. A young, inexperienced waitress also assured me an item I was biting into was vegetarian, which it was not. This is extremely poor service

5. We arranged our speeches for approx 9:30pm, by which time the first wedding in the downstairs room ought to have finished and left the premises at 9pm. This was not the case and their music was very loud during our speeches.

6. The toilets for both functions were downstairs and shared. We found out after our wedding that the female toilets were very untidy, used paper towel overflowing in waste baskets and no toilet paper in the toilets, leaving guests to have to take paper towel from the sink area into the toilet with them.

We wrote to Andrew at Chateau Wyuna after our wedding to raise the above issues which let us down. He apologised and assured us our experience was not the norm. This does not however change our experience. Of course we had a lovely wedding thanks to wonderful family and friends. The Chateau grounds/gardens are gorgeous, everyone loved the chapel. There is ample parking. The function rooms are somewhat dated and could do with a reno however this is probably one of the reasons this venue is cheaper than most. Overall on paper this venue is great value for money, but from our experience the food was far from satisfactory.

In order to avoid the issues we encountered I would only recommend the Chateau if you book it exclusively or if you are the first wedding. They did not succeed running two large functions on the same day for our wedding and being the last function we feel we were the ones to lose out. Our MC Holly though did a great job given the lack of staff available to cater for two functions. She was pleasant and helpful all night in spite of overall bad conditions.

Approximate cost: $Cocktail reception $70 per head

It is such a novelty to have an entire Chinese menu to choose from but everything on it is vegetarian! Attended with meat-eaters who were probably always going to be more critical than me. But the overall group consensus was that the sesame prawns for entree were awesome, sweet & sour pork, lemon chicken and beef & black bean classics were good, the plum sauce dark was frighteningly meat-like and the fried rice was excellent. Will definitely be back for great food and service, but most of all - for the all you can eat vegetarian in all those meat-eater Chinese favorite dishes!!

This is a free water/recreation park about 15 mins out of Darwin city. So technically it's not a "business" but I wanted to review it in the hopes that anyone looking for activities in Darwin might find it to make use of it! A reasonably new water park, facilities are excellent, heaps to do in and out of the water, great for families with BBQ and picnic area. Water park staff are adequate, some are friendly, some are just there doing their job, but it's all good. Water slides are heaps fun and in the kiddies water park there is a giant bucket that fills with water before dumping out again on top of you. Lots of fun for all ages, I can't believe it's free!!
