I love the theme and decor of this restaurant. I went once with some girlfriends and our 3 young children (all in prams). There wasn't really enough room for our prams even in the outside area but they did their best to accommodate us. The entrees were very nice, the Hommus was delicious! Even my daughter loved it. The bread was also fantastic! We had to get a second basket! The main was not that great however. I ordered the chicken burger and when it arrived the chicken was quite cold. It tasted ok but could have been better.

The best food I've ever tasted, simply delicious authentic Turkish. A bit pricey but worth the cost as the quality is superb. Customer service is spectacular.

We have dined here on three separate occasions and each time the service and food have been exceptional. With my dietary restrictions I'm very particular with my food. The waitress couldn't have been more helpful and attentive. She told me what I could and couldn't eat on the menu and then was able to organise with the kitchen so I was able to change some of the ingredients so that I have what I wanted.
Although they were extremely busy our water was constantly refreshed and drinks renewed.
I had the lamb cutlets with a green salad which was delicious and cooked well.
I even told the manager on the way out how good his staff had been and I don't usually do that.
Its now a favourite place to eat when we go up to the Southbank .

I have gone here a number of times over the years, most recently in the past week, and generally found it really high in quality. I definitely recommend it to check out if you are in the Southbank area.
The staff are generally quite nice and efficient, even when they are busy.
The food I have never had a problem with - they have quite a varied menu including starters, mains etc. I have been there on occasion to just have dips with friends before moving on, and also to have an actual meal.
One of the greatest positives that I have experienced is that they don't try to push you out. Even when we have been well and truly finished our meal, and still sitting at the table for 30+ minutes, the staff haven't forced more food on us or suggested me should leave, which is always really nice when you are having a great night out.
That said - I do this it is fair they let you sit when you are finished, cause in all honest, you are likely to sit there for quite a while to begin with. Whilst everyone is nice and all, it is no fast food by any stretch of the imagination. The staff take orders pretty quickly, but the wait for the food can be a bit ridiculous. Once you know that it is fine, but the first time I went we had play tickets and had to basically run out the door and the whole way to the theatre after our meal because they took so long.
Overall though, definitely a lovely restaurant with a great experience with performances on a couple of nights.

Not very happy with Ahmets - I'll preface this by saying it was incredibly busy and while our service was by no means lacking or rude, we did experience a significant wait for food. My main issue here is the food, which in my opinion is mediocre and over priced. When you have mains that are $23+ there is a degree of quality expected from a restaurant and I did not find this here.

I had a Turkish meal that was essentially a chicken breast covered in lumpy and stodgy mushroom sauce with two dollops of dip. The other meals (a lamb casserole and lamb shish) were similarly underwhelming. Something you could have made at home for a fraction of the cost.

If you find yourself on Southbank, I would advise avoiding Ahmets. I know for certain you can find better food for a MUCH better price elsewhere. Very disappointing, will not be returning.

Approximate cost: $25

Next time you're in the mood for Turkish, try Efes One at Albion. The food is amazing and parking is a LITTLE easier (at least you don't have to pay for it).

I went here last year as part of a girls dinner and it was great. The service and atmosphere is really good and they had a live show with belly dancers that really got the audience involved. The food was really good and they had some very authentic dishes. I wouldn't mind going back here for another group dinner!

I've been to this Turkish restaurant a few times. It is often quite busy, but staff have always been friendly and helpful. The food is very tasty- the banquets/set meals are great. Meals are a bit expensive for this to be somewhere I'd eat regularly.

Beautiful restaurant with beautiful food and friendly staff. It is not the cheapest meal but worth the money. They bbq's are amazing. Try set menu for 2, it is a bit too much but you will love every bit of all those food. They have belly dancer sometimes too for bit of fun although she seems like she doesn't know what she's doing.

Approximate cost: $35

CONSISTENTLY one of the worst restaurants I have ever eaten at. I love turkish food so I gave Ahmet's 3 tries thinking that they would improve... failed every time. No more chances from me. It's a shame because the food is actually good - that is if you get served the dish that you ordered!
