I used to ask my kids to go to the factory to buy their ricotta in 1.5kg tubs for around $7 or $8, unfortunately, they have reduce the size to 1kg now. So there's not that much point going, when you can buy the same thing from a supermarket and save yourself a trip.

I love getting all those sorts of cheese at great prices, especially bocconccini cheese, can buy it bulk and in that area is lots of shops at direct factory prices.

this plce sells fresh ricotta, mozzarella and a very large range of cheese. open everyday of the week even sunday. bear in mind you may have to wait on a sunday as it is very busy

Visiting the Alba Cheese Factory is like stepping into another world. You enter through very Italian-themed fly-strip doors (red, white & green) and find yourself surrounded by people with their own containers - of all diffent sizes. They're waiting to have them filled will fresh, hot ricotta cheese - straight from the factory's huge vats. You can watch the cheesemakers stirring and checking each batch before they ladle it (with or without the sauce) into the container you've provided or one from the factory. The fresh cheese has to be tasted to be believed. If ricotta is not your style, how about some bocconcini or ovalini? Percorino, provolone, parmesan, mozzarella...? The list goes on. The actual shop is quite small but there is a "take a number" system to ensure each person is served in turn. The staff are helpful but watch out for the crush when the window slides open to serve the ricotta!! You could be swamped by a crowd of multi-cultural folk who obviously know great cheese and where to get it.
