Attended on a Friday night - very busy due to raffles. Lovely staff but the meals we ordered were not up to scratch. Two of our party ordered the rib filet - it was actually rump. It was not cooked to order for either of us and was sent back. The second attempt was still over-cooked. To be clear, I ordered the steak 'blue' and even told the staff I was happy if it was still cold in the middle... I did not bother to send it back a third time as my companions were already half-way through their meals. The servings are generous but if they can't cook the steak as ordered, for me, there's not much point.

This review is for Adore Tea Australia, Nicholls ACT

We went to Adore Tea, especially for the high-tea, which we had heard good things about. Unfortunately we left deeply disappointed. On the plus side, our reservation was accommodated, food allergies were taken into consideration and the staff were very pleasant. On the other side of the coin, the portions were extremely small, they were unevenly portioned, the flavours described - such as lemon-myrtle butter, were barely discernible, the slices seemed to be store-bought, rather than home-made and again, the serves were minuscule. The same price applied whether you had the sparkling wine on arrival or the non-alcoholic option. We also had to ask twice for water for the table. The high-tea represented poor value for money and poor quality food. I would not recommend.
ETA: Menu listed "French sparkling wine" - prosecco from Wangaratta, whilst nice, is NOT French sparkling wine. False advertising is not impressive.

This review is for Muzz Buzz Drive Thru Coffee, Kealba VIC

Excellent coffee. I go to Muzz Buzz every Sunday and they have never let me down! They do drive through coffee and snacks. The coffee is always the right temperature and is always served with a little biscuit on the side. It's tiny, but I appreciate the gesture. The coffee comes served with a straw as well as a lid, so you don't need to tip your head back to take a drink while you're driving. They also do toasted sandwiches, muffins, pies, doughnuts etc. The staff are always friendly. Muzz Buzz has a loyalty card which is stamped each time you buy a coffee and you get freebies when you've purchased a certain number of beverages. I've also been to the Airport West location and can report that it too, is good. Muzz Buzz is perfect for cold, wintery mornings when you don't want to get out of the car, or when you don't want to drag the kids out of the car to get your caffeine hit! I'm looking forward to visiting again tomorrow!

This review is for Glo Car Spa, Footscray VIC

Best hand car wash I've been to. I took my car to be cleaned inside and out. The friendly staff could not be more attentive. They did a through job of vacuuming, the exterior was sparkling and they even deodorised the inside, leaving it smelling "new-car" fresh. While I waited, I had a cuppa in the tiny cafe and read the paper and could have watched the television. There are even toilet facilities. As I was leaving, the gentleman who had been cleaning my car still had his cloth out and was wiping away drips of water that appeared as the car was moving slowly. He then helpfully guided me onto the road (the car wash is at a busy intersection). Glo Car Spa even has a loyalty card entitling you to discounts the more car washes you buy. I couldn't fault the service or the excellent job they did of cleaning my car. They also offer a discount to Western Health employees (the hospital is just up the road). I'd recommend Glo Car Spa to anyone.

This review is for Sun Theatre, Yarraville VIC

The Sun Theatre is a very enjoyable way to see a film, be it a Hollywood blockbuster, an independent movie or a home grown gem. They even simulcast operas from the Met and other world-famous venues. It has been remodelled to capture the Art Deco period and its former glory and each cinema is named after local theatres that used to run in the Footscray area. The cinemas vary in size with some having double couches of leather complete with little tables for your snacks and drinks (alcoholic or soft). Ticket prices for adults are only $17 and there are a number of membership options and cheaper days that are worthwhile. There is a great candy bar which sells old faves including choc tops and popcorn as well as coffee and wine - all at reasonable prices. Things to note; the Sun Theatre does not take credit cards - there is an ATM in the foyer though and you can book in advance online. ; bookings are required after 5pm on Saturdays and the cinemas fill up very quickly ; they run two parents and bubs sessions on a Wednesday - morning and evening, but there are no baby change facilities and sometimes the sessions are scheduled in a cinema with stairs - which doesn't make for an easy time if you've brought the pram along. ; car parking can be a bit of a challenge with many of the car parks snapped up quickly at peak times, but it is just a stone's throw away from the train station. ; there are plenty of dining options nearby if you want to take in 'dinner and a show'. They also sell vouchers which make great gifts. If you subscribe to the online newsletter, there is a trivia competition each week that you can enter to win a prize.
I love going to see a film at the Sun, it's a fantastic experience and far- removed form the "multiplex" shopping centre movie experience. Highly recommended for young and old.

This review is for Indian Star, Maribyrnong VIC

Delicious food. The Beef Tandoori is hot, hot, hot! The Paneer Makhani is creamy and tasty. Unfortunately we ordered take-away on a Saturday night... we waited twice as long as quoted and upon arriving home, discovered that part of our order was missing. It's not the cheapest Indian food around, so it's doubly disappointing when part of your order has been left out. We're several suburbs away so it's a commitment and driving back to get the rest was out of the question, especially after waiting so long. I called to notify them and express our disappointment. The lady was apologetic and promised to "look after" us next time. Given this experience and despite how delectable the food is, I'm not sure when that might be...

This review is for Centreway Dry Cleaners, Keilor East VIC

verified email - 15 Mar 2014

A very affordable dry-cleaner who does good work but please reconsider if you're thinking of having clothing alterations done here. They took a brand-new dress (never worn) to alter but were unable to make the changes (which is fine, I appreciated the honesty) but upon returning to collect the dress, I found it covered in stains. I was told "it has only been hanging up". Whatever the reason, this caused a considerable amount of stress. He then said he was unable to complete another job that I had earlier asked him about (prior to finding out about the stained dress) and he had agreed to do. It was as though he couldn't be bothered? When I insisted, he agreed to clean the stained garment and did a great job. When I returned to collect it, I inspected the dress and thanked the man - he completely ignored me. Although the dry-cleaning aspect of this business is good and cheap, the customer service is really poor. I don't want to worry that something I take there will be damaged and therefore I won't be going back. The newsagent nearby is a dry-cleaning agent - I'd rather try them next time.

This review is for Biagio's, Niddrie VIC

verified email - 14 Mar 2014

I'm yet to have a bad meal at Biagio's and I've been there for breakfast, lunch and dinner! The service is excellent, the staff are very attentive. Cocktails and meals are reasonably priced too. The decor is very stylish but due to the lack of soft furnishings, it can get quite loud, especially when crowded. There is a small courtyard out the back, which is very nice, or al fresco dining out the front on busy Keilor rd. You'll also deal with cigarette smoke when dining outside but it's a great spot for people-watching. Biagio's is always reliable. Good food, good service and no shocks when the bill arrives.

This review is for Maribyrnong Boathouse, Moonee Ponds VIC

verified email - 13 Mar 2014

As mentioned by most other reviewers, the location of The Boathouse is superb. Fabulous on a lovely day to sit out on the deck - but be prepared to put up with cigarette smoke...
The menu is not extensive and is over-priced and they have the cheek to add a surcharge to ALL credit card transactions.
My meal came as I had ordered it and was very nice (steak sandwich with a generous serve of chips) but the service leaves much to be desired. This was my third visit but I won't be heading back for a fourth in a hurry, which is a shame because the location really is lovely. Service takes too long and is generally accompanied by a side-order of poor attitude from the staff. It feels as though everything is just too much effort. I had hoped that I'd just been unlucky on previous visits but I'm afraid it's now three strikes against this establishment. As such, I'll be very reluctant to part with any more of my hard-earned at The Boathouse.
