I used Ambience two years ago for the supply and installation of our ducted air conditioning in our family weatherboard cottage and was very pleased with the service and their professionalism. Accordingly, earlier this year, I called them again to offer advice on the best solution for our new garage studio and anticipated the same level of professionalism and good pricing.
What a difference two years makes!!! On this occasion (Jon their top sales rep) advised on a split for our garage level and an expensive ceiling cassette unit for our first floor. The total cost for two units was over 8000 dollars. I declined to have the split downstairs and reserved judgment on the install of the cassette because it would probably not fit in the allowable head space and location. Ambience pestered me for my credit card details and to sign their contract and the sales people were pushy and impatient (I eventually capitulated and gave them my credit card details, as this apparently would book my job in the schedule, but refused to sign the contract because I said that it was not clear that the expensive cassette unit would fit).
My builder later advised that the cassette would indeed not fit in the desired location and the available headroom would not meet building regulation requirements and on contacting Ambience to discuss an alternative I was informed that they had taken 20% deposit for the original order and for two units..the total deposit being 2000 dollars!!. I asked them to advise on a unit that would fit and told them that Good Guys could install and supply a smaller wall hung Fuji split unit for 2,500 dollars. They quoted 4000 for the same smaller unit and said they would not refund the deposit that they had unfairly claimed and only offset against the 4000 if they supplied.
I regret trusting them with my credit card details and foolishly believed they would do the right thing by me the customer.
Some four months later Ambience have not given me a refund and are thoroughly unpleasant when I call their offices to try and resolve.
Ambience claim on their website that they have been awarded lots of top supplier awards, but it seems obvious to me that this has been achieved by overzealous sales tactics and sharp practices.
As at the time of writing this feedback I have not received a refund for expensive A/C goods that were wrongly specified, not received and contractually I didn’t contractually sign up.
Be very wary when dealing with this company.
