Annapurna meaning literally full of wholesome food. Wholesome it is not. Last time we ate at the north hobart branch amd the food was terrible. This is going back 1 year and we decided never to eat at annapurna again. Yesterday while looking for a restaurant late me and 2 of my friends came accross annapurna in Salamanca. For the lack of other vegetarian options we decided to eat here. All 3 of us got strong stomach pains and excess bloating. We though itll go away by morning and I write this straight after waking up with terrible stomach ache after confirming my friends are feeling the same. 1 star for failing to fulfil the most basic requirement of hospitality and food service under the guise of wholesomeness.

Great place for after game takeout. Great size meals and good quality food. Give it a bash. Try the butter chicken meal deal

I absolutely love Indian food, and this place has generally been fantastic! Once or twice I have had to wait what seemed an unnecessarily long time, or have been served food which is very greasy, but it has never been bad enough that I don't go back. The vegetarian options are great, and there are enough to keep it interesting if you return often. The staff aren't overly friendly, but they are usually quite busy so all is forgiven.

They usually have a discount voucher in the Entertain Book too :)

I have moved to Tasmania from Melbourne and this is easily the best Indian food I have ever had! You cannot go without having the Cheese & Garlic Na'an bread! Their cutlets as an entree or main are to die for. I would recommend getting hte entree banquet for 2, as you get to try a coconut prawn, a sausage, a cutlet and chicken and it's really fun to have a bit of everything. Their dessert wine is delicious, in particular the Frogmore Iced Reasling which I now go out of my way to buy regularly. I have been to this restuarant at all times of the evening and week and can say if you are early - as in around 5-6 o'clock the waiting time is very fair and reasonable. Any later on any night and you really do need to book in advance.
A few of the seats are near the door which can get cold so take jacket just in case! SOmetimes the staff can be a little unaware of an empty table or you waitng for their attention on a busy night, but aren't all places generally like this? I have also ordered takeaway from here and it has been Just as pleasing. Must not miss this place!

I went to Annapurna for lunch and had the Thali lunchtime special. Yummo! It's like having a mini banquet - rice with 3 different curries in little bowls and heaps of Naan. The service was friendly and efficient and the winelist had a good range of Tasmanian and other wines. The meal was very cheap, filling and delicious - I'll definitely go there again.

Approximate cost: $14 (lunch)

Prior to our recent Holliday to Tasmania, I did a search for the best Indian Restaraunt in Hobart (silly me should have looked on this site. We love our Indian food and thought we where in for a treat when we found this one. So sorry for the poor review but I can honestly say that the curries we had had very little flavour really disappointing.

Annapurna is the best Indian you'll find in Hobart. I recommend their Saag Paneer in particular. Both locations are good, but I prefer the North Hobart one.

Approximate cost: $12-20

Love this place! The food is delicious, the service is good and the decor and atmosphere are really nice. My favourite Indian in Hobart so far! (also prefer this Salamanca one to the one in North Hobart). Yum!!

Good Indian food, the surroundings are pleasant and the service always friendly as well. Reasonably priced, and quite good value for money.
