The food is delicious! There is a range of Japanese style dishes to choose from. The drinks menu and wine list are extensive enough to cater for everyone. Service is friendly. We enjoyed our visit.

Our family really had a good time for Katy. She really loves Japanese food and everything sushi. Personally I am not but she really liked them. I loved my choice of food, the beef was good for me. Service was great very accommodating and courteous staff. thumbs up to that.

We have ordered takeaway food many times from Asahi. The food is good. However ever time the estimated time has been well under the actual preparation time. We now allow for that but last night we ordered, allowed extra time and headed to pick up the food. We live 20-25 minutes away. As my husband was walking in the door home the restaurant rang to day they had forgotten to send half the food and for us to come back and get it. I suggested that as it was their error that they bring it to us. No. Send it in a taxi. No. Their mistake... Our problem. Poor service. Never again.

The food is absolutely fantastic and set out very well. We have been to this restaurant so many times and used to go every Friday night. Service is occasionally slow when they are very busy but I have been going there since I was 8 after my ballet lessons. The staff are really friendly and everything is nice on the menu. Love it!

Ballarat's hidden secret. What a pleasurable experience, the service was nearly as good as the food which was excellent. Golden Plate award would do it justice. Wine selection limited to good wines. We will definitely return and highly recommend to Ballarat visitors and locals.

Lovely subtle flavours making it a definite stand out, especially for Ballarat. Staff were friendly, helpful and really new their menu well. Went with the personal favourites of our waitress, including the eggplant entree (exceptional), the yakiniku and the sweet pork belly. Just great. Good portion sizes and faultless service although ordering drinks proved a little challenging at times! Will definitely be making this a favourite and coming back with friends.

What can I say but wow, wow, wow.
Wow for the service. It was everything I would have expected from a restaurant like Asahi. From the second we walked in we were treated with the upmost respect and given paramount service. Wow for the food. The presentation was divine, and flavours and freshness could not have been better. We will absolutley return agan.

We are regulars of Asahi, and whilst not expert in Japanese cuisine, we consistently enjoy our meals and experience there.
Favourite dishes include the vegetable tempura, nasu degaku, kani croquette, miso soup, moriawase platter, teriyaki and yakitori. Always leave room for ice-cream - both the green tea and bacl sesame are divine.
We recently took some friends who had not eaten Japanese before and are not diverse eaters, and they thoroughly enjoyed their meals.
Looking forward to our next meal there.

What a fantastic restaurant!

My partner and I both agree that it is by far the nicest quality food and service we have experienced in any Japanese restaurant (if not any restaurant overall). The interior is beautifully yet simply decorated and the furniture is all comfortable. The service is welcoming and always friendly - not at all intimidating or snobbish as in some businesses.

Last night was our first experience with Asahi, but it definitely won't be the last! We tried the kani croquette and agedashi tofu for entree, moriawase (sushi and sashimi selection) and tempura prawns with wasabi mayonnaise for mains and both the green tea and black sesame ice cream for dessert.

Every dish was wonderfully presented, from the arrangement of the meal itself to the dishes they were served on.

The Japanese beer and sake is a different and very satisfying addition to the menu, and I would recommend it to anybody who is yet to experience it.

I can't wait to come back for more - the wonderful food and exquisite service far surpassed my expectations and I could not be more pleased.

I had never been to a japanese restaurant before, and my first experience was amazing! I had the group banquet with my friends, even though we were a relatively small group. This meant I was able to sample a wide range of the menu, and it was all delicious! Even if the thought of sashimi is a bit strange, go in with an open mind and you will definitely discover that you enjoy something different!

Great food, and was able to use two shopadockets on one table. I thought that may have been an issue, but not at all. The free meal works out as a great affordable meal out.

Very nice fresh Japanese food. Good see these sort of restaurants popping up in Ballarat. The Sushi was top notch and their main courses were very tasty with very fresh ingredients. Only thing i believe was lacking was atmosphere. Just doesn't feel like a Japanese restaurant. Other than that I was very satisfied and will come back again.

Dining at Asahi last night was great. The friendly staff who go out of their way to make sure you have a wonderful evening. Being a vegetarian the staff double and triple checked everything I had to make sure there was no meat or egg produce in it. Having worked in hospitality i did notice one table unhappy with their meals but i was pleased to see the manager offer them everything she could and turn their disaster of a night into a pleasant one.

The meals took a little time but we were informed there was a staff shortage that evening on top of being the most amount of customers the business had ever served. Once the meals had arrived I was very pleased with the taste and presentation, both simple yet perfect. Exactly how delicate food should be.

Will definately be returning.

We had a fantastic night at Asashi. The food was beautifully prepared and presented. Ingredients very fresh. We had the sashimi and sushi platter to share which I would highly recommend.
Wine list very impressive and Sake was great quality.
The service was outstanding, the male waiter went above and beyond in providing a great experience, something that is lacking in a lot of places today.
The restaurant exudes warmth and the chairs are very comfortable. The tables are placed far enough away so that you are not listening to the people at the next table.

I went here unexpectedly when I decided in a moment of madness to take the kids to ballarat to see sovereign hill and the various other sights in the area. The food was delicate and precise- exactly what Japanese food should be.
