An established "default" place for a good lunch or morning coffee in hawthorn. The short blacks are generally very good as well as the space and the little coffee accessories section at the front. The new outdoor area is also a long overdue and nice addition. Only thing I'd recommend is to adjust the padded back wall rests on the bench seating areas as its not all that comfortable sitting along there.

Came here as I heard their pancakes and waffles were good. The red velvet pancakes were fantastic!

The food was wonderful, my partner was thrilled with the smashed av, and the coffee was spectacular. I ordered a blueberry and mango smoothie (which was also delicious, nothing artificial) and they hadn't brought it out until we got the waitress' attention about half way through my meal (my partner was already finished). I wasn't much concerned about it, but the beautiful waitress dealt with it so kindly and then told us the smoothie would be on the house. It's this sort of humility and generosity that bumps a 4.5 up to a 5 makes a place standout. All of the staff were incredible, but shoutout to that particular waitress,

Axil has plenty of space to accommodate a group catch up for breakfast. The food and coffee is great and high chairs are available.

Really great food, coffee and service. Lovely freshly squeezed orange juice too. They just do everything right and are very family friendly. We have been for breakfast and lunch, and always return. Their donuts on the weekend are a bonus for my 3 year old.

I love coming here for breakfast. Food is beautifully presented and coffee is great. Service is quite good also.. I had the bitcher muesli with pear.. YUM..

The staff are always friendly and happy to help, the menu choices are great! With "fancy" gourmet items and low-key sandwhiches and eggs on toast etc. Their desert (mousse) is AMAZING! and their specials (crepes) are soo good! The coffee is also really good, although sometimes it can be a little on the war m side and you have to drink it straight away.

The cafe space is nice and big, and you don't feel too cramped even though the cafe is packed and there are waiting lists on weekends! Sitting outdoors is also nice, but it gets really hot sometimes.

The prices are reasonable and they are often very accommodating for changes to the menu or special requests for dietary requirements.

Service was excellent, very efficient and friendly. Quality of the food was good and very reasonably priced we had two panini's (delicious) and coffees, great coffee. We sat outside as we found it a bit too noisy inside.
