It's nice to have a local bookshop for new books in Balwyn, but as it's so small, I can never count on it having the selection or new releases I'm after. It's nice for a browse, and finding something you want unexpectedly, but if you have something in mind, I wouldn't really expect it be there

I have shopped at this bookshop maybe a dozen times over the last few years. The service had always been knowledgeable and friendly. However, I was really disappointed with the service when I made a purchase here recently. I asked if they had any copies of the Good Food guide. I was told they did and bought it at full price. Less than 2 week later I see in all book shops the 2010 edition has just been released. My disappointment stems from the fact that the owner of a small, local bookshop would not advise me the new edition is a week away. He would have known the new edition is coming out, he probably had some on order. My experience left me feeling ‘done-over', as if he was happy to have sold one of the redundant 2009 editions at full price. Will I make future purchases there? Highly unlikely. I have taken my book purchasing dollars to Borders / Dymocks in Camberwell. Which is a shame, as I prefer to support local small business where I can.

Approximate cost: $29.95

I occasionally will browse new books in this small friendly bookshop. Out the front they have a table of specials all all in good condition. They have a goods selection of all fiction and non fiction including a reasonable children's selection.
