All the optometrists and reception ladies are simply lovely and have provided my family and I with comprehensive behavioural optometric care for years. Their Vision Therapy program is also absolutely wonderful! The therapists are fabulous and create a fantastic learning environment for the patients!

Pricing feedback - as this optometrist charges out of pocket for all consultations without pre appointment notification.

I attended this optometrists for the first time yesterday after annual checkups at many optometry practises over the past 25 years. My family have never been charged out of pocket for an eye examination anywhere before.

I chose this optometrist solely for the convenience of being within 5 mins of my home.
I made the appointment in person at the practise and was then sent an email to complete details prior to my appointment.
On arriving for the appointment there is no signage indicating that an initial consultation will result in $105 out of pocket charge.
I would have assumed that if this practise intends to charge above the standard then I would be informed.
I was shocked when post appointment I was given an out of pocket invoice for $105
Legally this practise can charge what ever they want but it is no way the norm for an eye examination which is what brings me to write this review.
Clients should be advised when making the appointment that this out of pocket charge is being applied - or when they send out the pre appointment email or as signage or schedule of fees in their waiting room.
Obviously this omission is not by chance.

My appointment was conducted well but no different from any previous eye test except that the visual fields which I have had previously during the initial consultation elsewhere, was omitted and I was advised to make a followup appointment for this test (with an additional out of pocket charge no doubt - although of course the charge was not mentioned)
If I had been informed prior to my appointment on their charges policy it would have then been my choice to attend and pay this charge or go elsewhere. Unfortunately this does not happen,

My family and I always see Richard Sutton who provides punctual appointments, a friendly manner and excellent eye care. Screening photos can also be taken of the eyes for specific medical monitoring eg. Diabetic Retinopathy.

I have finally found my new optometrist!!! I rang their office in the morning after waking to an extremely sore and swollen eye. I was told to come in straight away and barely had time to sit down and I was seen and treated by Richard Sutton. I am usually a contact lense wearer but am unable to wear them for now (ulcer in my eye - ouch!) and the reception ladies helped me choose a new frame to suit my face and placed an urgent order for my new glasses and I had them in 2 days!!! Very very happy customer. Thankyou!

I love Berwick Family Eyecare - my son who is nearly 6 has been seeing Sonja since he was 3 & 1/2. She is great to deal with, takes the time with you and or your child and is very patient. My son will not see another optometrist. The only downfall is their glasses are a bit expensive but are excellent quality (I always buy a good pair there and head to the bigger retailers for an extra set - need to have about 3 pairs with a kid !!) Could not recommend them more highly.
