i went for a relaxing coffee and cake, only to hear the owner and her daughter arguing with a customer who complained that he had to wait ten mins for a cold cappuccino. he did have to wait, and the owner became angry started abusing him about who did he think he was and she has been in business for years and if he didnt like it get out! I was stunned , surely you can complain if you get sub-standard service, but obviously not at that place! Very unprofessional and created a very awkward atmosphere to eat in. Several people also left as well as the man who dared complained. The coffee and cake were as expected, my latte was cool but not cold and I also waited or about 15 mins for it, but it didnt bother me as I was reading.

i'm a visitor to Hobart&was shopping at Eastlands so decided to check The Black Cat Cafe out-(i'm a cat lover!). well what a selection of food for a not so large cafe. the displays were fresh, clean, inviting. a medium size quiche set me back just $4.00! i chose spinach&fetta-yum-large chunks of feta too! a pack 5 small sandwiches-variety-only $5.50. cute too as one side wholemeal and other white. they were fresh&filling. tables were clean, plenty of staff on duty so no waiting, polite too. newspaper supplied for a browse. the hot ready to go food in banmarie looked just made&tempting-great for someone in a hurry.

this is a busy little cafe had to wait some time for counter service which was ok as they were busy. would of expected the food to be better (fresher) the pasta was all cream and oily with no real taste to it and the baked potatoe with bacon and sour cream was no better the sour cream was baked into it as it must of been sitting for some time walked away feeling very ill in no hurry to go back ! but in all fairness others looked as if they were enjoying thier meal

Approximate cost: $10-$15

A great place to drop in to have a quick coffee. They also have a range of teas and cakes as well. The atmosphere of the place is great and the prices are reasonable.
