Good coffee, and you must try their watermelon cake if they still make it. It is simply divine
Lovely coffee and yummy pies! It gets quite busy on the wkend so best to get there early
Approximate cost: $4
I LOVE the strawberry watermelon slice. It has actual watermelon as one of the layers. It is a visually appealing slice, topped with actual purple flower petals. Unlike any standard pastry place I would definetly say that black star is worth a visit.
Don't walk past, don't say no... say YES! Amazing pastries for those who love their butter buttered. Possibly the best croissant I've ever had (on this continent) - buttery, light and crisp. I had the vegan chocolate and toffee popcorn cake for my birthday and it did not disappoint! There's even a small selection of gluten free goodies for those steering clear of wheat.
We tried the lychee cake for a change, very satisfying and refreshing. Definitely come back for a treat to reward myself.
Good quality pastries and cakes. Their popular watermelon strawberry cake did not disappoint. And their other choices of cakes were of a high standard too.
Received the watermelon cake for my birthday and who knew you could dress up watermelon like that. Absolutely love the creations here.
I love this place and it is my go to place when I need to get my pie fix. I really love their lamb shank pie and the watermelon cake. I also love their custard flans. Black Star Pastry is my favourite place to visit on the weekend.
Despite the wide range of products they offer, the only cake I ate here were the infamous watermelon cake, which is in one word. Awesome. Loved it so much that I could not try other products. Well I did once actually - the fig orange cake, which is tasty in its own rights but pales in comparison to the star product.
One thing though, the customer service is not as good and few times I been there they were just seemingly taking their own sweet time to serve.
It was almost 40 degrees today and the watermelon cake was so refreshing. We shared a watermelon cake and a orange cake that were both delicious.
Coffee was good but my iced chocolate was milk and cocoa powder in a small glass with 3 ice cubes, very disappointing.
There are next to no seats though. There are a few inside and a couple of really low stools lying around the outside but no tables and not very comfortable. My tip would be to order takeaway.
That iced chocolate sounds terrible, thanks for warning not to order it.
