Very stressful experience with Bendigo breast screening. I’ve had an appointment for months. And sadly an hour before and on the day of my appointment I was half way to Bendigo in my car when Cathy calls me to say that they have some concerns due to covid boundaries. I explained that because of my job I get tested every day and medical appts are permissible in lockdown. She hung up and I kept driving for another 10 minutes then Cathy calls back to cancel my appointment and I’m close to Bendigo by this stage. A waste of my time. I felt Very badly managed by Cathy and Bendigo Breast screen.

If you are over 40years of age you can have a ' free mammogram ' at the Breastscreen clinic nearest to you !!
No referral letter is required.
Just ring them on 13 2050 to make an appointment.
I had been having mammograms whilst living in Melb through a Caulfield public hospital to which I had to pay for the service (the experience with staff was always awlful in this hospital).
When I moved to Ballarat my lovely GP here informed me of the 'FREE' mammogram (you must be over 40 to eligible) through the Breastscreen clinic that is situated on the same block as the BHS.
I had the most wonderful experience at the Breastscreen in Ballarat. It has a home-feel to it, not so much hospital like & very private too.
The staff were compassionate, friendly & so helpful & informative. I wasn't treated like a number, I was treated with such care.
... And they have free coffee & tea facilities, how lovely is that : )
And it's all for FREE !!!
Your results are posted to you, and is in a lovely, courteous & friendly format.
I will never dread a mammogram again in my life, ... thanks to the Breastscreen Victoria : )

Approximate cost: $FREE

Ballarat Breastscreen is indeed an excellent facility. I had to go back on one occasion for a second screening because something was picked up and they were fantastic about dealing with one very stressed patient. It turned out well, but isn't it great that we have access to this free test and that we can nip anything nasty in the bud? :)
