I got in touch with Brett after reading great reviews here at WOMO. He came over for a quote and we agreed on a start day a few weeks later in mid November 2015. He is a nice and pleasant guy and was here on time and did most of the job as expected, cleanly and with quality (Brick BBQ project). The job was about 80% completed and I paid him for that. He left his wheelbarrow and somewhat of a mess on the deck area surrounding the BBQ project, with the intent to finish and clean up everything the following day when he was supposed to come back to complete it. But on the following day he did not come, allegedly saying that he had some family emergency. As I am aware that these things do happen, I let it be for a few days and then tried to contact him to get an understanding of when he thought he would be able to come back to finish the job. He said he was going to be in touch in a day or two. Since then I was not able to get in touch with him again. I called a few times over the next few days, weeks and months and left several messages. He has not returned any of them nor has he given any explananation as to what happened. In the end I was left with an unfinished project right before Christmas, with the hard task to find someone to complete it in time for the holidays (which thankfully I did, albeit at some extra unbugeted cost). Also, there is his wheelbarrow that he does not seem to want to collect and finally the mess he left behind, meaning I'll now need to sand a large part of the deck area and repaint.
Unfortunately I would not recommend his services, not so much for the quality of his tradesmanship, which is in fact good, but for the fact that he has walked away and left everything messy, whithout completing the project and whitout any explanation or follow up.

Brett and his colleague were a pleasure to deal with. Transparent, easy going, prompt in responding to phone calls and emails. Brett was happy to save us a few hundred dollars by advising how we could dig hole for foundations. The brick fence was integrated superbly with an existing wall. I have no hesitation in recommending him. Thank you Brett and Alek :)

A quick Google search of local bricklayers quietly revealed Brett's name to us. He checked on the job when he said he would - and then labored in the dusty kitchen for two days. He was professional, efficient, totally reliable and a damn good chap into the bargain. Our restored 1890s fireplace basks proudly after his handiwork. And we've added an excellent bricklayer on to our list of trusted artisans!

Brett and Alex did an amazing job on our front pillar fence. As quality builders we have high standards and we couldn't fault their work. It is obvious care and attention to detail is what matters. If you want a quality job call Brett Devlin bricklaying, you will be impressed!!

We needed repointing on an old home and were lucky to find Brett. We found Brett to be reliable, down to earth and tidy. He arrived on time to assess work required, delivered a quote in a timely manner, provided his service quickly at the agreed time and went beyond the agreed service. We felt like we were back in the good old days when you can trust a mans word. I would use his bricklaying service again if required. Thanks !

We had a small, yet technically challenging curved wall that we couldn't find anyone interested in doing for us. We called Brett and not only was he interested, but he was completely competent bringing along his skills and professional attitude to the job. He showed up when he said he would, and on time too. Definitely recommended.

Our company urgently required a Bricklayer for a small renovation job in Carlton. We called several bricklayers to quote before finding Brett. He arrived fully prepared and completed the Job quicker than expected. Brett is now our first contact for any bricklaying jobs.

Brett installed a bike ramp in my garage for my motorbike. I was very impressed as my garage is tiny had he made really good use of the space. He made suggestions and wasn't fazed by the size of the job either. Really friendly and very professional!
