I have bought a number of parts for my 2010 Turbo Diesel Pajero auto wagon over the past 5 years. I have always found their filters to be as good or better than OEM and a lot cheaper. Don't forget your cabin air filter also needs replacing. I have had a truly awful experience with Brett's Truck Parts. I ordered an oil filter via eBay for my vehicle which cost $13.95. I chose to buy through Brett's because I believed it was a reputable company. The filter arrived earlier than expected which was pleasing so on the weekend I set about doing an oil and filter change on my vehicle. After removing the old filter I compared it with the Brett's one and it looked identical. But when I went to fit it into the oil filter cartridge on the engine it wouldn't push into place. After several attempts I started to investigate and using vernier callipers found the hole in the bottom of the filter that fits over the spigot in the housing was 4mm smaller diameter than the old filter, hence the reason it wouldn't fit. This fact was not obvious when looking at the two filters side by side. Because I needed to have my vehicle running and wasn't willing to put the old filter back in with new oil, I had no other option than to buy a filter from the local parts shop at the cost of $26.95. As a result, I felt it was reasonable to ask Brett's for a refund plus the difference in the cost of the two filters as compensation for the inconvenience of being supplied a part that would not fit. I sent an email with my contact details to the company stating my request and soon after received a phone call from a company representative who treated me with absolute contempt for suggesting that I should receive any compensation because the filter didn't fit. He then proceeded to blame me, saying I hadn't selected the right part for my vehicle, despite the fact that the ad on eBay that I used clearly states the exact specifications of my vehicle. He also stated that 140 of these filters had been sold with no problems but according to a flyer that came with the filter the Japanese company who makes the filter has only recently started supplying these products to Brett's. He also made an extremely rude remark to me saying "are you a bit hard up?" in reference to me asking to be compensated for the extra cost of the filter I was forced to buy so I could use my car, rather than having my vehicle out of action for a week waiting for another filter to be supplied by Brett's.
All up, it was a very traumatic and unpleasant experience and one that no customer with a legitimate complaint should tolerate. At the very least, I think an apology from Brett's for this appalling behaviour is warranted.
