Extremely bad service and lack of knowledge from the vet. I drove 2 hours to see him as he is the closest avian vet. I will be driving 5 hours from now on to see an avian vet who actually knows how to handle birds, cares about birds and knows what they are talking about. I may as well have gone to my cat and dog vet 5 minutes away for the time I wasted.

Mike Cannon is more concerned about his ego than the welfare of an animal. Refused to see a mutilating, bleeding bird (that he had seen before) because I had 'taken it to a different vet' despite being told
1) that the birds' regular vet is overseas for weeks
2) that I live in Sydney so it would be illogical for me to use him as a regular vet
3) that when he had previously seen this bird he had only done a bandage change, and that all surgeries and blood tests had always been done by his regular vet.
Argued with everything I said, tried telling me I should never have taken the collar off that he put on. Another lie - the Sydney vet put the collar on. He attempted to 'add' to the collar by wrapping vet wrap around the birds throat which constricted his breathing and needed to be removed shortly after coming home. Tried to backtrack saying 'well I adjusted the collar for you'... this was his best reasoning for not treating a bird with blood rolling down its leg.
My bird was clearly in pain and requiring stitches but Mike tried dispensing a lecture telling me things he assumed I was doing incorrectly (all of which was completely wrong, egotistic and cynical). When asked 'so you can't do a bangage change for him at very least?' he threw his hands in the air and said (WORD FOR WORD) 'I can't help this animal, you need to pick a vet and stick with it.'

Thanks Mike, now my pet will suffer for 2 weeks until his regular vet returns.

Poor excuse for an avian certified vet let alone an animal healthcare professional

Very passionate, friendly, interested, caring and knowledgable. They have ALWAYS sorted problems and helped with all routine check ups and vacs. Not to mention a recent experience where my Newfoundland was poisoned, the founding owner of this vet was available on the phone within 5 minutes at 2am. He beat us to the surgery and treated her immediately. The prognosis was grim. He tirelessly worked on our girl till all hours in the morning. A Vet was with out girl round the clock from 2am till 5pm. She was kept in for a few days with overnight stays at home. He saved her life. Every one of the Vets and staff obviously have a genuine interest in animal welfare. The price was extremely modest for the amount of work and costs involved with treating giant breed dogs.

Amazing vet!! The staff are really nice and understand exactly what they are doing. They are open late and really care about your pet and you, not money. Best vet in the south coast.

Definitely the best vet in the illawara region, i take my dog there always if anything comes up, a good place!
