Being a foodie and having the ability to compare many different dining venues around South Australia, I would have said my experience at the Challa to be sub-par. Went there on a recommendation, and yes they have the standard all you can eat salad bar, but it was nothing to tell your friends about.
We ordered the mixed grill, the seafood trio and the flathead fish and chips. Came out in just a tiny bit over a reasonable amount of time. The meats in the mixed grill were dry and a little bit on the bland side. The chips were probably a redeeming thing, but there were an in-proportionate amount of them. What were we paying for? A meal or a bucket of potato?
The seafood was likewise a bit dry and tasteless with too many chips.

All in all, this is not a place on my list of pub choices. And I won't be recommending it either.

THE CHALLA GDNS IS NOT TOO BAD A HOTEL.SOMETIMES THE LOCAL PATRONS ARE NOT VERY WELCOMING OR FRIENDLY BUT THEY ARE NOT USSUALLY TOO BAD.THE SOCIAL CLUB ISNT VERY MUCH FUN & IS QUITE EXPENSIVE TOO.THEY DO HOW EVER MAKE REALLY NICE MEALS,THAT ARE VERY DECENTLY PRICED.THE BEST NIGHT TO EAT THERE IS WHEN THEY HAVE THE BUFFET/SMORGASBOARD NIGHT WHICH I BELIEVE IS A TUESDAY NIGHT.

Approximate cost: $10-30
