A decent, large chinese restaurant - good for entertaining important guests. However, it's no better than the average large chinese restaurant.
The chicken and corn soup lacked salt so I had to demand for them to make a new one for me. And to make things even worse, they miscalculated the bill at the end, and almost ripped me off by $20, but the manager didn't even apologise, and kept insisting that she was correct and that I was wrong (she said: "I do this everyday! I know the prices!") until I forced her to look at the menu again, and prove her wrong. I got no apology whatsoever.
Pretty average Yumcha, not too great. Didnt like the quality in comparison with Marigold, serving sizes were bigger though. Usually quite packed so you have to get in early. Quite unreasonable prices so you might be better of going to a noodle bar even.,
Located in the spot where Kam Fook used to be, China Grand is a far cry from the previous tenant. While the decor is flashy and shiny, China Grand serves mediocre Chinese food at inflated prices. We ordered 9 dishes, of which only the pork in Peking sauce is worth mentioning, and Shanghai pancakes for dessert. The pancakes might have been ok but there was too little red bean filling. It's not surprising that the place is empty even on a Saturday night - look around Chinatown and you'll find dozens of places offering tastier food at reasonable prices.
Approximate cost: $25
We had seafood dinner there but the attitude of the captain is not so good. The food is ok but comparatively expensive. service is not very good too.
We were seated inside a smaller side room when we visited for lunchtime yum cha. Unfortunately this meant that dishes took longer to get to us and trolley visits were quite sparse. Nevertheless, the food was quite good - standard yum cha fare.
